What's your guys' "scratch/swirl filler" of choice?

Me and the GF are heading out to Waterfest in NJ in a few weeks and we want to get her car looking as great as possible for the trip and the show. The car will be in an exhibition area so while it will not be judged, there will be plenty of folks walking by it.



We plan on taking some of the webs and light swirls out with a compound/polish, but I think a good option is going to be a filler to hide anything we don't take out for the show.



Basically, we need something that will fill the scratches for a week. It needs to be able to last through maybe 2 washes and ~3000 miles of driving. More durability would be welcome, but the key is to find something that's going to give the appearance of a perfect finish.



I know this is basically what "glazes" are for, but are there any specific suggestions? Also, how do you folks like the swirlbuster polish? Would that fit the bill here?

One Grand Omega Glaze is supposedly the heaviest one out there. Menzerna FTG is great too, significantly more hiding than RMG but definetly a penalty as far as easy on/off goes.
 
Also, how do these glazes interact with the LSP? Since the glazes tend to "come out" after a while, I assume they take the LSP with them... In that case, how long can I expect to have to rewax if my LSP is on top of a glaze?

I would suggest you try out Mother's Sealer & Glaze and top it with Mother's carnauba paste wax.



Another combo would be Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze topped with #21 Synthetic Sealant.

On my Black 91 Silverado suburbon I used turtle wax scratch and swirl remover. It really did a great job! I'm now on the Duragloss kick and want to try the Duragloss scratch and swirl/ cleaner then use the new Duragloss 105 toped with Duragloss AW on my Silver Tacoma. Mike
 
When I show my 91 MR2 I apply Meg's #7 just before the show. It will evaporate in a couple days and doesn't remove the LSP when does so rewaxing is not needed. It makes the paint look like it is still wet.

I have a bunch of 3M Fill 'n Glaze that works pretty well. I think it's out of production now, but you can PM me if you'd like to give it a try, I have over half a gallon.
 
I use Mothers Sealer and Glaze sometimes..You can put it right over your LSP and it still hides some of your micromarring etc...



1. Swirl Removal

2. Mother Sealer and Glaze

3. LSP of your choice

4. Drive 3000 miles :)

5. Wash or use Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine

6. Apply Sealer and Glaze again



I find this product works best when worked into the surface then buffed off, rather than just applying and taking right off
 
So many choices!



I'm actually leaning towards FTG, anyone have any experience with it? Does it have good hiding properties?

I used 3M Imperial Hand glaze on some pretty nasty black cars, and it made it look much better. I have 3M PF-3000 glaze but don't notice much difference on MY freshly-polished paint...
