What's your full time / part time job?

I'm a union shop steward at the trucking company I drive for and serve about 130 men. Just had a 15% give-back and a 18 month pension relief given to try and keep the company afloat.

Paul I have 21 years at the same company and soon I plan to make detailing my full time job. With the pay cuts and our benefit cuts (our local cut our health and welfare not just the pension) I can make just as much detailing, and actually enjoy the work. I also do some computer repair and home theater install work on the side.

Cadd Technician.

I have been doing P&IDs/PFDs and some 3D/ISO drawings for about 5 years for my dads engineering firm. Been pretty much part time with summers at about full time. I also do some washes and waxes here and there and its mainly friends, family and neighbors. Nothing more, nothing less, as I don't really want to mess around with correction on someone else car just yet.:)

Sir
My hat off to you. Fifty years , thats fantastic. I'm a union shop steward at the trucking company I drive for and serve about 130 men. Just had a 15% give-back and a 18 month pension relief given to try and keep the company afloat. I know what you went thru and you have my respect.

Paul, if the company eventually closes check with the state DOL rapid response unit to get all the benefits available. They did a great job in Michigan with the closings that I handled. Good Luck!! Expect the best, prepare for the worst.

You may also want to contact your Senators and Congresspersons office and see if there is any help available by way of financial assistance or other benefits. Worked for me in one case, but the company was in receivership and the debtor in possession( the bank) refused, they just wanted to liquidate, didn't care about the people.

I drive airplanes for a living and manage a Fortune 50 flight department.

I am a project engineer for the DOD. I did work in the explosive test area for a year and a half, super fun job btw. I am also trained as a Tool and die maker, Welder, and automotive paint and body technician

3X retired: USN '88, Boeing '02, started drawing SS '09. Will still have to find a P/T job soon. Right now I spend a lot of time taking care of my wife and going to doctor appointments.

Working title is "Sr. Publications Specialist" - I'm a technical comminucations specialist (tech writer on steroids). I write process, procedure, design and user documentation for multi-million and multi-billion dollar IT support and custom software projects. Started doing this about 14 years ago after 14 years in management/supervision and 5 years as an IMAX technician. Retirement is 5 years and 4 months away (if I can afford it).

GEWB
