What's your favorite sealant?

Sealant. I've used it over AIO on my silver WRX with no apparent problems. It's my favorite OTC product these days . . . moderate durability, but very easy to use, dries pretty quickly, no smearing on removal, great looks.

In regards to the product Mothers Reflections, does Mothers make a "AIO" type product that can be put on as a base then Reflections Sealant over top?

They don't make anything with the cleaning power of AIO but both their FX Synwax (polymer sealant) AND their Reflections Advanced Car Wax have mild cleaners. The Reflections Advanced TopCoat can go over either.

Wow-this is about as diverse a response as I have seen on Autopia with regards to sealants.

Just goes to show there is no single 'best' product for all perferences out there. :)

Very true! Thanks for the responses.

Guess one day I'm gonna have to break down and buy some UPP. Still haven't tried it and read mostly good review about it.

I find I have a hard time choosing a favorite. Even when I do side by side comparisons on on each half of the hood I have a hard time saying one is better than the other (prep is really the most important factor). I've tried many of the aformentioned products and like most of them.

My favorite one-step product is, of course, AIO.

As far as pure sealants, FMJ gets my #1 vote for ease of use and slickness (plus they sent me two large bottles when I only paid for one :)

AJ gets my #2 vote for pure sealants.

I never thought any sealant could beat my UPP. Then I tried FMJ. Easier to put on and take off. Slicker and the slickness lasts a long. Plus by adding the Menzerna HGAS every 2 months, this stuff could last forever. :xyxthumbs

Is FX Synwax an all-in-one (polish and sealer)? Can it be used as a base and top coat?

Is the FX line higher quality than the Reflections line of products?

Malachi,

The FX is rather a beauty product. Although it has very mild cleaners, it won't qualify as a polish. I see it strictly as a sealant. Top Coat works wonderfully over it.

There is NO quality difference between the two lines, they just have different appearances. FX is very reflective, Reflections is warmer, softer. If you mix them, you can get a very personal, unique look.

Thanks for clarifying between the two! I understand now why others have been recommending using FX or Reflections over AIO.

FMJ. I had it on the truck from March to December with no touchup's and it was still beading very tight. That's with 3-4 washes per week, hot florida sun, etc.

I will use this forever most likely. You can't beat the durability.

You just have to prep the surface properly to get a good bond.

When you reach these points you have discoverd the true essences of detailing.
