I've only actually used a Metabo.

I picked up a Makita and felt it was just a little heavy for me... I'm a wimp I guess ;)

The Metabo is wonderful and I wish I had made the move to the rotary long ago.

Do those who take the handles off their rotaries find that the head of the machine gets hot? I've had some instances where the handles have sorta gotten in the way before, but was afraid to take them off because I have heard of the head of the machine getting pretty hot.

Edit: I'm using a Makita, BTW.

I've never had one get hot enough to be concerned, but I probably pause more often, and work less extended sessions, than a lot of people here.

But note that Mike Phillips generally uses his without a handle and he's put in a lot of time with it that way.

Has anyone used a Fein before?

wow never heard of this before i just googled it on sale 462.00 that buffer better dance for that much! i been hooked on the dynabrade ill tell i spent an extra 100 for the backing plate and nothing like it its the da on a rotary amazing for a final finish. im a buffer junky that fein looks interesting but wow what a price!

You think the DeWalt head gets hot? Try using a Snap-On buffer. I have a Snap-On and it's basically the same thing as a DeWalt, except the head is polished like a mirror, and the body is black instead of yellow.

i own a metabo and makita. use metabo mainly because of its weight and ease of moving it, but really like the results of the makita after some series compounding.would say the metabo is more of a intense polisher to my opinion.

The makita is so smooth and easy to use... One of my favorite tools. I have thought about getting a PC for a while but the Makita seems to do it all.

No problems with my Dewalt, even in the summer. Which I wish would hurry up and come back. :sadpace:

I am a machine junky myself too.

The Fein is expensive, but I have heard it is one top quality built machine like the rest of their tools.

The Dynabrade is a very nice machine for it's price.

For the price of the Fein, I could buy another Metabo and a Dynabrade and still have a bunch of money left over.

I had a Snap-On one. I loved the chrome head.

I've looked at getting a Fein WPO 12-27E, but they are really expensive.

Jason Rose of Meguiar's has a Dynabrade and really likes it. Supposedly, Dynabrade quit selling the polisher because of reliability issues, though. If not, that would be on my list of polishers to get.

I believe the Mac Tools, Snap-On, and Dewalt DW849 polishers are all rebadged Black and Deckers.
