What's your favorite leather treatment products?

btw the numbers...is that an effectiveness scale? not quite sure what that is?

The numbers refer to steps with reference to the recommended product to complete the leather-safe system.

I have corrected some number errors that may have caused the confusion.

Steaming leather is not an issue with pigmented leather “Finishes”.

It only affects the “Structure”.

Therefore on perforated panels, needle hole seams, finish cracks and abrasions; the leather structure is exposed and becomes vulnerable to shrinkage that will stiffen up the leather.

To correct the shrinkage and stiffness; the damaged leather structure is highly recommended to be “rejuvenated” with a combination of hydrating and fatliquoring.

The Leather Problem Solving Guide is updated with “Steam & Heat Shrinkage” and its recommended steps to rectify it.

See the above update.

Do you have a leather problem you need a solution not found in the guide?

Does anyone like Lexol products??

NO. I threw out the cleaner, and emtied the conditioner, refilling the bottle with some stuff called "Leather lotion" from PRO. I only use it on low-end interiors. The Lexol conditioner smells like french fries and the cleaner didn't do anything.

Woolite HE/water at 20:1 dilution to clean

Leather Master's Leather Vital to condition

Optimum Leather Protectant to protect

You'd me amazed how much healthier leather will feel after it's cleaned and wiped down with a wet towel. Try Leatherique for that soft feeling.

Absolutely. You really don't need to condition the leather that often if you keep it clean. Wiping down seats with an MF towel dampened with ONR works great between deep cleanings.

Im suprised not many like lexol..

I used vinylex and hated it never used the leather conditioner..but does anyone like the cleaner the people that sold me my leather couches swore by the cleaner. What do people like as a OTC leather cleaner??

ONR or Optimum Leather Protectant?

I use Woolite 20:1 (non HE, I like a bit of foaming) for cleaning, its as OTC as you can get. There is no OTC conditioner I like, I have used them all, and they all leave a greasy shine.

I like the Lexol cleaner OK, but after reading some of the recent posts here you might want to check its Ph before using it on anything you *really* cared about (and I'd then see if it's suitable as per the info posted here). Not that I've *ever* had any trouble from it....

Gotta say (for the umpteenth time) that I always find leather pretty maintenance-free/issue-free, but that might not be the norm since every vehicle that I buy used comes with previous-owner-leather-issues; wonder what they're doing/not that's so different from my relatively neglectful treatment :nixweiss
