What's your favorite combo now?

Again I agree with Charles. I am perfectly happy with the look UPP gives me on both our cars. A dark green metallic and a silver. The only reason I will top UPP is because I have to use my overabundance of waxes.

Does EX vs EX-P make a diff on dark metalflake paints ?

It seems that most prefer to pass on EX-P on dark painted finishes, why is that ?

EX has carnauba, so it darkens and makes the paint have depth.

EX-P has no carnauba, so it works better for lighter colors and brings out the metal flake even more

But would not the EX darken the metal flake in a dark color ?

I have been using #16 as a Carnauba topper on my dark green metallic car, is that a mistake ?

Thanks

As of this weekend:

For the silver car:

AIO/WG/EX-P (I need sunglasses!!)

For the black car:

AIO/SG/EX/ps21 (I need my swim shorts, paint is deep looking!!)

:-p .

Are you happy with it? If so then no. It is all about what you like. Thats why most people here have a bit of everything. If you think that you could get a better result with something else try it out, that is the only way to tell. My 2c's

Never having used #16, my opinion isn't based on actual experience, but since most of Meguiar's products are pretty good, I can't help but think #16 is also a good product. Like Eric says, if you are happy with the look, that's what matters.
It's pretty easy to get caught up in the "chasing products" part of detailing. There are lots of products that will give you a great look if applied properly.

It seems like it was Jngrbrdman that once said that it is process not product that gives you the great look.

My fav on my black bimmer is as follows

SSR1
WG polish
WG sealant x 2
Pinnacle Souveran x every week

My fav on my wife's silver TT

SSR1
WG polish
WG sealant x every month

Im new here, just curious... why does everyone mix all this stuff up? You would think that eventually you had so much different stuff on the car the paint would peel. In all seriousness though, carnauba is carnauba right? just different grades... confuses the heck out me. when my wife uses 3 different foundations of makeup, by layer three, you can't see layer 1, and it most likely came off when she put on layer 2. I just tell her to use one layer she looks good as it is... maybe im just anti-anal.. sorry.

We mix because many products are compatible. Different products mixed up can yield very different finishes. I don't think we would enjoy Detailing if it was the same look everyday.

Your paint doesnt peel from products, its from the spray procedure in the factory. When we mix, we generally know what works and what doesn't. Have 3 layers is NOTHING at all. Most of the time its polish to seal to wax. So that is standard layering. If you had more than 2 coats of wax and sealant, then you get interesting results.

You have a clear coat, and thats why we can do so much with products, don't be afraid.
