Whats up guys, Im new

Hey, i just found your site while i was trying to find some info on the new turtle wax i just bought. Im the type of person that has 2 try everything until he finds whats best. I have about 10 different waxes in my cabinet, lol. I mostly use meguiars products, NXT and gold class being my favoirte waxes. I wax my car usually every 2 weeks. Just figured id say hello and say alittle something about myself. My car is a 97 Ford Mustang, Lazer Red. Which is pretty faded due to the rich kid that owned it before me, decided he was 2 good 2 take car of the car, appearence wise. :( I just have one question, has anyone tried that wax that they advertise on tv? It's like NTX-7 or something.... i can't remember the name, their comercials shows they hitting the hood with a flamethrowe, and dipping the hood in acid... Im just curious if anyone knows the name, or has ever tried it?

I personally haven't tried the new TW, but you are going to need a good polish to rid yourself of the fading. The TW will not restore the finish. Take a gander in under the search thread and you'll see plenty of suggestions.

Does it have lots of swirls or any scratches on the finish or does it jsut ahve that faded look to it???

If it haves some swirls or scratches i would reccomend the poorboys SSR line, SSR 3 being the most abrasive, SSR2.5 a step lower then SSR2, and SSR 1.... I would personaly choose SSR 2 then step down to SSR 1, it is hard to say without seeing the finish but that is a good base line. Then top it off with a wax of your choice, I personally like poorboys EX then multiple coats of Trade secret by top of the line.

If all you have is that faded look i would recommend SSR 1 foll

It has some scratches, it was loaded but now, through all my almost weekly waxings i hardly have any scratches, like if you look at the reflection of a light bulb, u can see few scratches, but theirs still some in there. But basically my paint is just really faded. It also has quite a decent amount of orange peel. I don't know what to do with the orange peel because i have no idea how thin my paint is. I want it to be clear, but i don't kno if its work digging into my paint. What would you guys reccomend for my paint? I used Megs #9 Swirl Remover today topped with Turtle Wax Ultra Gloss. The was worked as advertised, gave an amazing shine. Not so much color depth, but one heck of a shine! What would you guys reccomend i use on it?

Try a good thorough claying, follow with Meg's DACP or Poorboy's Pro. Polish. These will give the paint a good chemical cleaning and the clay will lift the unpolishable cr*p. Spray the surface with a 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/water mix to remove polish residue and inspect the paint now. It'll be much easier to decide how agro to go now with polish. Are you working by hand or PC? Post some pics if you can. Also is the clearcoat still intact? This will change the situation dramatically!

Ive clayed the car a number of times. Ive ran through the full detail numourous times. Megs clay, then scratch X, then color x, then polish then wax. Yes im pretty sure the clearcoat is still inact.

Welcome to the DC :welcome What your calling orange peel are you sure thats what it is ? Check the infomation and pictures about it here.>> Orange Peel Orange Peel doesn't happen from neglecting the paint , its CAUSES are
1:Under reduction and/or air pressure too low.
2:Thinner/reducer evaporates too fast for spray conditions.
3:Excessive film thickness or piling on of heavy wet coats.
4:Improper spray gun set-up.
5:Improper painting technique .

The fix would be something like SSR 1, 2, 2.5 or 3 depending on how bad it is . A PC would help you cut down the finish faster. If that does nothing Color sanding might be the ticket.
 
i really don't want to do any color sanding, or anything of that sort my dad would never let me do that, he says my car looks just fine. So id never be allowed 2 do color sanding. He gets mad if i use the orbital buffer on my car :-p
 
Yeah I can understand that. If color sanding is out then try the SSR line of products from PoorBoys. Just remember to start with the least aggressive product first (SSR1 being the least aggressive) and if that doesn't work step up (SSR3 the most aggressive) . You might want to try SSR2.5 and see how that does. Also once your happy with the results ,come back down in product. Another words if you start with SSR2.5 finish with SSR1 . Don't forget your choice of pads available in your cutting efforts.
