What's The Difference, Really?

PSP-vs-PSSCPW-vs-PLSW. DPMW-vs-P21S. #21-vs-#20 toped with #26. NXT-TW-vs-NXT-TWP?

Is it really the product, or the fact that the first 5 on this list are more costly......Really?

It's the prep. You can tweak the final appearance with the glaze/wax or sealant combo but 90% of the look comes from proper polishing.

I've been using a lot of Meguiars #16 that I paid $11.50 a can for. Cheap and it looks great.

Holy crap. I've been here a long time, but it still took me a minute to decipher all those letters!

LSPs don't make a whole lot of difference in the appearance. Take your time while thoroughly claying and polishing, and your results will look great regardless of the wax/sealant that you use.

If the look is in the polish, all the talk about wet, deep clear has no real meaning. It seems to me, if all a wax or last coat does is protect. Its durablity and protective qualities are what is most important. True?

The "deep, clear" part comes from the polishing IMO. If you're able to remove all oxidation and scratches from the paint, the depth and clarity of the paint will be excellent. However, certain LSPs may not be perfectly clear, and will hinder the clarity somewhat, also reducing flake visibility.

I think an LSP can add some gloss to the finish, but the real purpose of the LSP is to protect the paint in the condition that it's already in after the prepping.

I would say its more like 70% or 75% but I agree with Scott that prep is critical.

Assuming a very clean, level surface which most of us here maybe can do, then product can make a significant difference. Different products have different levels of wetness, depth, gloss, reflectivity, clarity, durability, etc. Availability and quality of a "booster" like Crystal Mist, 425 and Z-8 is also important in my view.
