what's the best MF cloth for paint??????

My current faves are from YoSteve . No micromarring, not even on the Jag's soft lacquer. But I also like the suede-style MF bonnets from TOL for removing LSPs.

I dunno about WWs for anything but drying. The only ones I have that are soft enough for dry contact with movement (think buffing as opposed to blotting) are the gray WWs from Ian at MicroFiberTech.

ahah i found a really soft one at the dollar store, called furniture buffing rag or w/e and it isnt bad, but im pretty sure it still scratches

For removing compounds, wax, and LSP I have found no better towel than these:

They are very soft, the pick up everything allowing for fewer swipes on the paint and they wash out very nice, nothing gets stuck in the nap.

Especially perfect for removing Zaino, Klasse AIO & SG, and Menzerna.

So why... but... not bad?... scratches... huh?

I use the Blue Perl MF towels from Autopia and AG Aquatouch Ultra MT towels from Australia (through a UK supplier).

Never experienced any scratching from either, so long as they are used and maintained correctly.

There are different types of MF's for different jobs. Waffle weaves are best for blot-drying the car after washing. Really inexpensive MF's (costco/sam's club) are fine for interior and doorjamb seals etc....When they get too stained, I use them to work in the engine bay. I use my shorter nap MF's to check my work while polishing and the plusher ones for product removal and QDing. The DF towels are extremely long napped and I use them for final buffing after applying things like S&G. They are also quite expensive. I used one of their mitts to apply DP's new Acrylic Spray Shield and it came out quite well. There are also MF's structured for glass. I have purchased from PakShak, Excel Detail and SMP and have received a number of them as gifts from any number of vendors.

actually.... i've used the blue hometex mf's from sams club (i like them better than the microtex from wal-mart and vroom's from target) on paint and it didn't leave any marring/scratching. they are pretty nice (good plush) decent quality for the price and the quantity you get (though i use other mf's i have on a regular basis on paint).
