What's that funny yellow colour in the snow on DC's front lawn?

Brenton

aka PEI Detail
What's the deal with the combative nature of some folk on the board. Why are we getting hot under the collar, doing gritty pm's, flaming, trashing, etc.? What's the deals?

No product will replace the need for other products. Most things come down to experience, desire, smell, tricks of light, and opinion, opinion, opinion. Why not just play nice and act like adults when we disagree?

I'm all for disagreeing. I happen to think that Mullets served their national defense use two decades ago, but I don't go trashing our man, the Fuzz. But we still talk about products and techniques without much fuss.

Let's save the heat for drying cars and working SSR2.5 into a panel, shall we?

(and feel free to call me on something if I cross a line)

I think the simple answer to your question is that simply people don't like it when folks start trying to spread stuff they heard "through the grapevine" without being able to name the source and back it up.

Libel isn't taken lightly by alot of people and I don't think it is healthy for Detail City.

I'd rather see folks standing up to libel than to bend over and take it up the butt.

It's not just today's thread. And though there are a few characters typically involved, it happens with some frequency.

Drama for your MAMA ! :hail im begining to see more of it here then in other forums. But its good when most are right & wrong it creates conversation & opinions  which is what forums are all about

You know Miami, if you weren't part of the problem half the time then maybe the drama would decrease. Quit pointing fingers until you can recognize your part in this issue. I may be part of the problem too, but you don't see me whining about the atmosphere here and looking like a hypocrite.

Whoa.... did I miss something? Late for the party...?

Personally I think DC is one of the better forums out there anymore; certainly better than Autopia, but that's another story for another time. We won't open that can of worms.

As far as any "drama" happening, I can only speak to the recent bit that I've been aware of, the struggle between "profesional" and "enthusiast" -- which as was mentioned, seems to be relatively non-problematic. Heated debates are great, as long as some degree of tact and factual/intellectual basis is maintained throughout.

I'm fine with heated debate, and I wasn't comparing us to anyone else.

But it goes beyond what's needed. If you want to say something about someone else, be witty, kind, and intelligent.

Discussion and debate is fine, thats how we learn about new and different products and techniques.
Sometimes people go a little overboard. What will make that matter worse is when someone else will look to fan the flame and bring a negative attidtude to the thread, and that is when the drama starts.

I don't believe that it is anything personal (or I hope not) when debating on process or product, it's just that some people feel stronger in their opinions.

Shiny lil detlr: Thanks for thinking that DC is one of the better forums, but remember it is the people that come here is what helps make the forum what it is.

DEBATING is fun.

in the HFI thread there were no name calling. just questions and claims.

no personal attacks, although fuzz, who is the moderator, so u cant do much about, does come off quite fresh and quick with the tongue, with his im the boss attitude. again, hes a mod and he was chosen by the owner for a reason, but other than that, i think debates with a little intensity are a great way to learn.

ive said it before and this will be my 5th time saying it,

leave the debating at the thread that it started. dont let it stop members form helping others simply because a discussion got intense.

as for those who cant stand any discussion, just dont read it or participate.

If I seem like I throw down an "I'm the boss" attitude, then I apologize. However, in case you were wondering, I am 'the boss'. :naughty Sure, I don't own DC, but I still care for Detail City very much. I'm not here to win any popularity contests. When I log off of Detail City I am still Tyrell Fuzzard and nothing in my world has changed. This is just a website, people. It isn't anything to get your blood pressure up over. If I see that a thread is getting out of hand then yeah, I'll shut it down. Do I shut down every thread that gets out of hand? Probably not. I don't get paid enough to live here. Some people obviously don't have a life outside of the internet and have nothing better to do than cause problems. It is for those people that I reserve my 'I'm the boss' attitude for. The rest of the time I'm smooooooooooth and try to help other people become smooth too. It's a rough job. If you want it then grow a mullet and try and take it. :naughty Ya gots ta be smoooooth to be a DC admin. ;) :bigups

Leyland I suggest you refrain from impugning my integrity. I for one am probably one the most outspoken DC member here. That’s is the reason why I get flamed a lot. Im not a hypocrite who hides but rather voice my opinion, which is what we all do. If I find a product that I feel is better I will say it, Review it & that’s it. But im not here to be the problem maker but I have noticed that many DC members don’t have capacity to be honest about certain things & cant handle peoples different view without BASHING them & there opinions, because they are afraid to get flamed. I love debate & can continue on for ever. But when people like you (Leyland)call the most outspoken person(me) in here a hypocrite it just shows how little you know about members & how incompetent you chose the word “hypocrite” I’m not here to curse @ people which I, have not done for Obvious reasons & never will.

My bad, Miami... So you are saying that every post you make is just being helpful in reviewing products and not just adding more fuel to the fire? :stick Time to review a few of your posts I think.

I stand by what I said. You are acting like a hypocrite if you are going to complain that DC has drama when you are the cause of a lot of it. I can PM you specific examples if you want them, but that is really an issue we should keep in PMs and not on the public forums. Then you can show off some more of your big words and poor punctuation in a more private setting. Maybe you could make some more suggestions on what else I should refrain from impugning.

"Detail City: We Know Drama" :eat:

I can feel the love in this thread.. :rofl I can say i've tarnished my reputation in the past from flaming, arguing, etc. There are a few big headed members here who think they know everything there is about detailing. And that there opinion is means the most. And thats how most of it starts.

Remember it takes 2 to tango. If you don't like someones post, DON"T reply to it. Report it and continue on with the topic of the thread.

Those of you wishing not to contribute to the drama on DC and post helpful reviews instead should probably leave this thread alone and get back to the reviews. If feeding the trolls is what you do best, then by all means keep posting. I'll just sit here and watch.

Boys and girls have a problem letting go . I havent been on here long but have read a ton of threads and you people have to understand you are dealing with a bunch of perfectionist like yourself . We have to respect a persons thread and respond to it as asked and not respond to it with another product if not asked. We also need a moterator as every site does as people can't get along. You all need to respect another persons oppinion and not take it as they are saying you are wrong",hence the phrase perfectionists".Respect the site and others and try to get along little doggies get along.

Not necessarily. It depends on the context of the thread, I know, but frankly I appreciate if I post about something and someone has an alternative product that may perform better.
