What's on new rims

Anyone know what does the manufacturer use on new rims? My rims, when new seems to have something applied on them that repel waters very well. After a few months, they don't repel water as good as when it's new even though they get treated with sealants and wax. Is there a special kind of wax for rims that the manufacturer use?

I have no idea what kind of rims you are talking about but most OE wheels come clearcoated. Over time the plasticizers in the clearcoat degrades and that's probably what you are seeing with regards to repellancy.

Freshly painted cars bead before you put anything on them too. I think its just the result of brand new wheels that haven't seen the road yet. They wouldn't waste time applying anything to them at the rate they have to kick those suckers out.
