What's in your Car Wash Shampoo Rotation

Griot's car wash mixed with optimum car wax (about an ounce / 2 gallon). With my mobility problems, this has worked great for me.

That "spraying into" sounds good to me :xyxthumbs

Does the foamgun keep the BHB rinsed clean, or is your "then rinse.." step still required? With my boosted pressure the foamgun basically keeps the BHB rinsed clean enough that I don't really *have* to rinse it conventionally unless I'm doing some truly awful area.

Heh heh, OK, now I can understand how you're doing it with so little shampoo mix!

Yea im srill dunking the bhb in a rinse bucket to make myself feel safer. What ratio of soap/water do you put in the foam gun? Ive been using cg cwg, probably 4oz soap to the remainder of the gun bottle(20ish ounces)

With the Griot's (and I kinda suspect that most shampoos use the same dilution), I mix up gallons of concentrate and fill the gun from that (I use about two gallons of concentrate per wash, minimum).

1 gallon of concentrate = 6 oz. shampoo + 122 oz. water

I then use the three strongest settings on the foamgun, choosing which one based on what I think is called for.

For me personally having to refill during the wash would make me dislike this process. Have you ever tried cg cwg? I am so impressed at the foaming and lubricity. Miles above the megs gc I used to have.

I have numerous spare bottles for the foamgun, and I change/refill them so often that I guess I'm used to it.

No, I never did try that one. I've pretty well decided I'm just sticking with the Griot's as I have zero complaints (though it is kinda pricey).

Hey Accumulator -

I presume you are using a Gilmour setup.

Anyhow, the big MTM Foam lance - the one that everyone uses.

I just saw a new one that has a remote feed. So instead of the teeny 32oz bottle, it has a long tube where you can out it into a bucket, a 50 gallon drum, and *inject* it in- similar to the injection right off a pressure washer pump.

Heh, I looked at that and said Accumulator needs that - at the rate he uses per carwash

I also like using different soaps. Most any soap does the job, but it is nice to try something different often. If I was in the business, I would likely just choose Meg's Hyper Wash. You can drink Bud Light all your life just for the alcohol or try other beers just for the pleasure.

I have too many soaps and no need for a long list. I'll just give you some highlights.

- just picked up DP Xtreme Foam on BOGO and its a little disappointing compared to Chemical Guys.

- mainly in a foam cannon I use CG Soaps: Mr Pink, HoneyDew, and MaxiSuds. If something is really dirty I'll use Bilt Hamber Snow Foam.

- In the bucket I like: Duragloss, Optimum, Ultima, Poor Boys SSS, 1Z Gloss, and Sonax. I just picked up Dodo Born to be Mild and was surprised how good it was. I tried a sample of BlackFire and wasn't impressed.

You never hear about Finish Kare shampoo. Anyone use it?

I have used 118 and I was quite happy with it until I started using ONR. The time saved combined with the equally nice gloss made me change. But if I started using shampoo again I would go for the 118.

Currently I work on prewash with an electric garden sprayer and 1Z blitz (1/20) and then ONR wash.

I have a foam gun and Valet Pro ph neutral on standby (waiting for the nilfisk to arrive). Before this I might use the VP on the garden sprayer instead of the blitz.

The 3D Pink shampoo is quite sudsy and slick. I put right up there in my use with Griots and Duragloss. I do the same thing more or less as Accumulator: I refill the bottle from a gallon jug of pre mixed shampoo as I go along. Takes more time to yank a hose around a car IME, so it's not an issue for me.

Currently, I've been using Optimum Car Wash and just recently purchased Griots (used it for the first time yesterday. ....traditional bucket(s) method. My stand by has always been DG CWC though. Great soap at a great price IMO.

I also still use CG CWC on occasion

That *would* be a good setup IMO! Stopping to change/refill the reservoirs is a hassle.

I'd like the idea of it on the Gilmours, but I wonder how awkward it'd be  Eh, I doubt they'd have the "pull" to work well with a long supply line.

I bought a foamlance a while back, but never replaced my pressure washer so it's just sitting there. The more I think about it, the less I think I'd find it useful (the lance, not a pw).

Ya know...that's pretty high praise, especially coming from you as you and I have similar criteria. I bet a big quantity of the Pink would cost a lot less than those ~$40/gallon jugs of Griot's.

Just for the wikipedia....you are right about the Injection Line.

It's different cause the hose is just a water house and the injection line on that *foam gun* was just that - a brass nopper where in theory your would run a clear hose to a *tank*

I don't know the distance.

What I do know is that the injection line on pressure washer works off the principal of the hose off the pump.

It has to be 25 feet or less. Any longer, and nothing will be drawn from the injection line. Something to do with the pressure created, yadda, yadda

I have a decent amount of the Pink on hand, and I have been pretty much impressed. I gotta factor in the costs: If I can get jugs of Griots locally at the auto parts store vs. getting the Pink, the shipping, and now probably FL tax for me too. When thing are running real low, I'll sit down and figure it all out.

Bill D- I wait until GG is running a promo on the shipping, and then I stock up with enough to last until the next one. I've yet to check the availability/price at the local Advance, need to do that some time.
