What's everyone do for bug cleanup?

It is finally spring here in Michigan and while the warmer weather is great, the bugs that come with aren't so, at least for the car. Every night I Cali dust and QD the whole car. I also use the QD with a microfiber to clean up the large mess of bugs and crap that has collected on the front bumper, hood and windshield. Most of the grime just slides right off with the QD, but sometimes some bugs and crap will get caked on to the paint. Is this procedure alright for cleaning up the front end? Thanks

I make sure the surface is cool. Then I use the cheapo but effective method. I wet a paper towel or MF and put it on the crud. Let it stay there for about 2 or more minutes and I do something else. After that, I just use the QD to spray it off. That way I avoid scratching the paint surface.

Wouldn't this be the same as if I sprayed the QD on and let it sit and then slowly wiped off the bugs and crap?

I think he means that he lays QD-saturated paper towel down on the paint/bugs, waits a few minutes, then pulls it off and finishes up with something more benign. The paper towel just keeps the QD from evaporating. At least that's what I got out of it.

I spray the front with Poorboys Spray and Wipe and let it sit while I do the rest of the truck, going back and re-wetting occasionally. When I'm done with everything else the bugs are usually easy to wipe off.

I read somewhere that you could use WD40 to get bugs off, if you have Zaino on the car, and the Z remains. Anyone ever do this?

WD-40 WORKS GREAT ON ROAD TAR. NEVER TRIED IT ON BUGS. I ONLY USE IT IF IM OUT OF BUG AND TAR REMOVER. IM NOT SURE OF THE EFFECT IT CAN HAVE ON THE PAINT IF YOU USED IT A LOT.

I THINK Pro makes a product that is supposed to keep bugs from sticking to your finish. Something sorta QD-like that you spray on as a final step. As I recall, it sounded better and better the more I researched it. It initially put me off- sounded like spraying something crappy on top of my wax, but I later decided it might be just the thing for certain situations. Now it's that time of year again and I wish I'd bookmarked the info I'd found.

I have use Pro's Bug guard. Its a liquid that you spray on that keeps bugs from sticking. Takes about 35-45 minutes to dry. It comes right off with a regular car wash. It works pretty good especially if you cant wash them off each day.

The website is prowax.com

Porsche Tequipment Insect Remover works great. Comes with a great little sponge.

I also like that yellow bug sponge from CMA. If you let it soak in a bucket it gets really soft and is gentle on paint.

I have also found that old panty hose work well!
