What's a cool, comfortable '06 car for a single heart broken guy? :)

Anyone suggest a new Dodge Charger RT?? Saw on in an orange metallic with the flat black Daytona Graphics, and it looked sweet!!

I read C&D's review of top sport sedans under $30K. They had high praises for the Jetta 2.0L turbo, as it went home with first prize. Might give that a look.

There's nothing wrong with having a mid-life crisis at 27. I have one every week and a half.

Access to dealers be damned, have a look at these suggestions in ascending order,

300C

G35

M3

M Coupe (impractical as heck but I don't care if the golf clubs have to go in the passenger seat.)

All would be wonderful, but if you want a smile on the face that just never quits, look in my garage and see why I look for places to drive to.

If you could save a bit more you should look at the new IS350 sedan. It looks amazing, has a great interior, tons of features, Lexus reliability, and people on clublexus have been running into the mid-high 13's stock :-o

I read you have to go through some kind of weird process to completely turn off the stability control on the IS. Not slamming Lexus (sheesh, I seem to do that a lot more than I intend to do :o ), just mentioning it.

FWIW, I just bought a '97 BMW M3 Sedan. Lots of Dinan goodies, 59K miles, less than $16K. Sorta along the lines of this thread. We'll see how nice it really is when it gets here.

Those M coupes are great, but would be a handful in bad winter weather if that's a consideration.

You should bring the M out to some car shows this summer... lots of decent places around Cleveland / Akron area.

Im a little late here but comfort was mentioned in the opening so that right there should rule out the 350Z. There isnt a dern thing comfy about the car.. its built for speed and speed alone.

I don't expect it to be that nice, bought it as the family beater. If I did a show I'd take the XJS or the RX-7 and see if I could bring home a trophy. But I'd have to get them on the road first :o I'd be more interested in taking the M to a track, it'd be just like the Skip Barber BMW school I did way back when.

An M as a family beater? Good god would I love to come visit your garage.

On topic, I always liked the Audi TT's and s4's. A new TT is somewhere around 33k ish I believe. Got in one at a car show a few weeks ago, insanely comfortable, even for me (6'3), but dont know about the trunk room. Still not scary fast though, but still seems like a fun car.

Hey Prometheus :wavey Seems like I haven't seen you around here lately.

Well, there are "beaters" and then there are "BEATERS" :D I kinda expect the M will be a POS compared to my other vehicles, condition-wise I mean. After all, somebody else owned/washed it for almost 60K miles. But it'll sure beat the minivan for running errands ;)

Hey Accumulator,

A POS M would still probably be far superior to anything I've ever drivin in my lifetime, not counting my bosses' CTS-V. I hope some day I will be as fortunate as you.

I've been lurking, but college eats up most of my time;) . I still like to checking every couple days or so and check on anything I've missed. One thing about college, no outside hose connectors to wash the car, and do it yourself coin-op ones dont quite cut it in Michigan winters. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Hope to be around more soon.

Prometheus- Well, as an ex-college instructor I'd say it's good that you're preoccupied with your studies :D.

Yeah, you're in a tough spot detailing-wise all right! When I decided to get serious and finish up my degree (way back in the day :o ) I got rid of my good car and drove a beater that I took through carwashes

Heh heh, once you put that degree to good use you'll be driving some pretty nice stuff, you wait and see ;)

A slightly used Acura TL or Infinity G35 Coupe would be my first choice at that price point.

If you want something new, have a look at the new Civic SI. It's a very nice car, at a very nice price!

That is the plan, only another 4.5 years to go. :o

Buy a SC400, and throw one of these puppies on it.

If we're talkin used, then there are a whole lot of cars that can be had for under 30K and turned into a beauty with the rest. Go get a LS1 Fbody and spend the rest on mods, you would have a show worthy, great handling, low 12sec car that is still good around town. I'm a little bias though. :D
