What about a Mercedes c230 sedan? MSRP is around $34,000 but you can get one out the door for $30,000. Decently equipped for that price too.

I couldn't be happier. Lexus luxury and reliability with V8 power (I knew this car was fast but its low-end torque has been a very pleasant surprise). This beast is very comfortable and very fast!

The ultimate mid-life crisis car = Corvette. For $30k, you could get a nice C5 'Vette, which is just what you need to feel young again. Wouldn't be very bad for trips either, so long as you're going alone. Who needs a back seat if it's just you? The LS1 V8 is a reliable engine, parts are cheap (a lot cheaper than a BMW!), and gas mileage isn't that bad, especially on the highway (they have so much low-end torque that they can be geared super-low for freeway cruising, and get around 30 mpg).
That's the obvious choice to me.![]()

I'm going to try very hard and try to convince him to let me get whatever I want without restrictions.
So, new ball game. ANY CAR less then $30k!! but NEED trunk space! (350z ain't gonna make it)
2001 M3 is leading the race right now! Looking at this makes me SMILE!
SamIam said:Dude, with friends like in the picture, why worry about cars...For goodness sake man, don't buy a 4 door! Those are reserved for old guys like me and Accumulator.
Way2SSlow said:01 M3 will be a great car for ya, but be prepared for BMW maintenance prices. I looked at an E36 car before, but when I started going through the service reciepts.....I decided that I would pass. I'd get a C5 if it were me. I have seen some well kept C5 Z06s for like $32k, which I am sure you could get them to come off a little bit.
If you want a new car that is fun to drive AND sensible, I'd probably look into one of those new lil cobalts. I'm not exactly sure what they are getting for them, but I never see the SS model on the street, and it should get good gas mileage with decent pickup (I read an article that put it right about with the SRT-4).
