What would you use/do to get rid of these scratches?

Buffed a door on my Jeep to see if the products and pads I have would work to give me the result i was looking for. Some parts of the door look flawless, but there are other parts of the door there are little scratches - I don't know what what they are from, i think someone may have tried to wetsand with a coarse grain sand paper or something.



Anyway, I have a foam pad that i use for polishing and a wool bonnet that i use for cutting, but this hasn't seemed to work. I am applying 3M super duty compound as well. I was wondering what you guys would use on this Jeep...

Yeah, you need to upgrade the pads; they have seen better days.



I have found some 3M products, not all, are good for the "causual" detailer, but you need something a little better to do serious detailing. Many on here use M105, M205 and it seems to remove the worst of imperfections, and produces great results.
 
Agree with above posters. And the leftover marring may be due to the aggressive compound you are using. Have you followed up with a more mild polish?

You do realize that 3m Own's mequires so in effect m105 and m205 are 3M products.



But definatly time to upgrade at the very minimum the pads. I would also look into a better machine if your budget allows as well too. That wool thing looks like a bonnet cover more than a pad. They are not the same and won't work the same. If you know how to level the paint properly I would do that to get rid of all those random scratches and such.

The fact that you got as good of results as you did with those awful pads shows that you have some skills. Put a good pad on that buffer, and you'll be set.
