What would you buy???

Ha ha, sounds good not sure that it'll fly. We are looking at 2 small, inland lakes Belleville Lake and Ford Lake. Im sure its cheaper than being right on a Great Lake (my wifes parents live on Grosse Ile, OK not a great Lake but...). But the house on the inland lakes are still pricey from my point of view.

OK, I know bout where you're looking now. Yeah, lakefront property is expensive just about anywhere. My grandfather has about 250 feet on Grand Lake (Up north in Presque Isle county), not counting the house he was told that it was worth close to half a mil. Hey, if you want to keep the M and hide it somewhere so your wife won't find it, I can stash it :D It's only a 4 hour drive :)

Honestly, if you can at all do it, keep the M. I don't think you'll regret it...

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. Make sure it'd *REALLY* make a big difference in your situation to sell it before you do anything you may regret. I'd do a lot of number crunching before making up my mind.

On the Audis with the 4.2 V8, while the V8 S4s seem to be OK, the previous generation A6/S6 and A8/S8 (post model year 2000) have some *very* significant issues with the drive-by-wire. I've had or driven quite a few of these, and can count the good ones on one hand. And no, my S8 isn't one of them, though it's better than the other S8s I've been around. I'd be *very* leery of buying a used Audi with a V8, I'd figure that d-b-w issues are why it's on the used car market. And no, there's no fix. Even swapping computers/etc. doesn't fix it. After driving a M3, the Audi throttle response would drive you crazy if you got a bad one.

Want a fast SUV for cheap?? Go with a Forester turbo. Believe it or not but it is fast, for an suv. Otherwise out of your list I would go with a Cobra, just make sure you buy it from a private owner and look for bald tires, rubber in wheel wells, or any other signs of thrashing. Also a new GT would be a bad choice IMO because of the crappy interior, absolutely horrible! Might look cool to some, but it is made of pure crap. I also see some people rec. a G35, there are two thing to think about with those, one the coupe tires are expensive!!!! and two the sedans had a problem with the accelerator sticking wide open (electric powered problems). I know these because I have two friends one with each and the coupe likes burn outs but when he found out tires are i think he said $250 or so a piece he kinda stopped. Also I have heard of alignment problems. And my other friend (fathers friend) with the sedan, his wife took it to the grocery store and went to park and the car took off on her and hit a tree.

I think your best bet would be a TL, reliable, quick, 4dr, cool looking ext and int., and of course well made.

JMHO
