What would be your go to next sealant for the winter months coming up?



This winter is not too cold. what are your options?
 
Henry, welcome aboard! Take a hard look at FK's stellar 1000p sealant. It's probably the best value out there today :)

I still like Collinite 476S (I have its twin 885 Fleetwax) as my go-to "sealant" (hybrid wax?) for the winter. Seems to last through all the salt/calcium chloride that is applied here on roads in the upper Midwest from late November thru late March. It has a nice shine to it and the beading lasts that long, if you consider beading a sign of protection.



Now a true sealant that lasts in the winter is Klasse High-Gloss Sealant Glaze (KSG). Ask Accumulator about his two-coat application durability experience.



The other is Finish-Kare's Hi-Temp 1000P Paste Wax, another hybrid "synthetic" wax that is a favorite of many Autopians within this forum for a winter last-step product (LSP) . Again, seek out Acumulator's experiences on his vehicles (which, by the way, you will NEVER see pictures of!)



As a side note, has anyone tried applying Einszett 1Z Glanz Wax in the winter? According to its product description, it is one of the few waxes/glazes that can be applied in temperatures down to 35°F. Just curious!

I used this product when it first came to the USA. I suspect the formulation is probably different today. It was used on a non-daily driver. I remember the initial slickness and all was good, but don't recall that it had extreme longevity like we see from some of these other products that have become almost commonplace.

Pretty much the same answer here as the others have posted....Since the KSG only impresses me when heavily layered (and I don't mean just two or three), I'd recommend the FK1000P or one of the Collinites.



FK1000P outperforms the Collinites for me, though I still use the latter on the '93 Audi and I really only like sealants like FK1000P on vehicles that I can get/keep basically flawless. I.e., Collinite looks better on imperfect paint than the FK1000P does.
 
I bought BFWD as my go to sealant but forgot about winter time. Probably gonna pick up Collinite 845 to put on before winter since it isnt used much and doesnt need to look perfect. Anyone know where 845 or FK1000 can be found locally??

Assuming you're in the USA, 5.0, I often see the Collinite products at marine supply stores. I've never seen FK products in a retail store.

I've never seen FK stuff OTC either, but autoparts stores sometimes have 845, and my local autobody/paint supply place has it too.
 
I noticed yesterday that there's an eBay seller calling themselves aaamotoring out of WPB. Perhaps it's another one of their many, many name plates. They did have 1000p for sale, plus much of the FK product line.

Yep, they are on ebay....
 
Winter isn't too bad here. If I was up north, it would definitely be Opti-Coat. Here I use Opti-Seal on most of my customers cars. Using some Collinite 476 as well to see how it holds up.
