What Wax and Polish To Get?

I just got my PC 7424 in the mail today and I ordered some LC pads. What polishes and waxes or w/e i need should i get? I prefer to get some Meguiars Mirror Glaze line because I can pick it up locally. I have a Black CLS and Silver E to detail to get rid of swirls etc. What would you guys recommend. I'm a noob also, no experience what so ever.

Thanks

The clearcoat on the CLS is definitely the ceramiclear type, I don't know about the E, if its also fairly new it likely has a ceramiclear clear coat as well. This means your clearcoat is very hard, scratches less easily, but is also harder to polish. Using the 7424 you'll probably want to use the Menzerna polishes designed for hard clearcoats. They are expensive, and its unlikely you can buy them locally, sorry.

These are the ones I'm talking about:

Menzerna Super Intensive Polish PO 83Q Free Bonus!

Menzerna Nano Polish PO 106 Free Bonus!

WOW!!! A total newb with no experience whatsoever about to tackle swirl removal on an '07 black CLS? Seems kinda scary to me. At least you won't be using a rotary. I can't vouch for the Meguiar's line, but you can't go wrong with the Menzerna products, especially since they are designed to work on that type of clearcoat. I don't think the '99 E Class has the ceramiclear though, but you can still use the Menzerna/Blackfire products designed for ceramiclear.

If your willing to spend the money, I would recommend ordering some Menzerna Power Gloss, Intensive Polish and either Final Polish II or my personal favorite... Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear finishing polish or Menzerna PO106FF. But, I still think its a bad idea to "practice" your paint correcting abilities on a $70K+ car though. But to each their own.

btw... did you make sure to order all of the possible pad combos that you may need? Cutting, medium cutting, polishing, finishing, etc?

Lol. I probably practice on my 99 E or my 2003 Ford Explorer. So will I be good with JUST Menzerna Final and 106FF? Then what wax would i use? is gold class ok?

Don't want to threadjack but I have a similar question [and can't post a new topic because I'm under 10 posts!!]

Same situation, older cars... Just bought a PC, heard good things about Duragloss & Meg's professional, like the idea of stuff I don't have to pay shipping for, have several cars in different stages of paint [dis]repair, what products are best to start with? I just can't afford redundant steps right now and am totally mystified by glazes polishes cleaners etc despite researching every detailing site ever, all day [maybe that's the source of the confusion! [Slow time in the car business]]

Daily driver is 04 Neon, solar yellow, paint's in pretty good shape but lots of very faint cobwebs in the sun; it's been maintained w/ Meg's 3-step consumer for most of his life.

89 Ford Escort picked up as a beater, "wild strawberry" light red metallic, lots of defects swirling, heavy oxidation, some paint scuffs

98 Sebring convert, similar color as Escort but no metallics, medium oxidation & heavier swirls

01 black BMW 3-series, came with dealer-installed swirls, also my mom parks it under trees specifically a huge tar-of-death pine tree at work against my best efforts, it's also cloudy & chalky as would be expected from black paint, obviously I'll practice on the others before moving up to black;

Finally the fiance's black 01 Silverado, which he stopped washing & waxing several years ago because "Every time I washed it I saw more stone chips and it pissed me off, so I just stopped washing it altogether"[!!!!!] So I can't even look at this truck, it feels furry even after you wash it but clay brings up none of the garbage you would expect; it's totally cloudy & chalky and swirled and just ughhhhhh

Sorry again for threadjack but any advice will probably help me *and* FIZZL!

Thanks in advance,

Lauren

You really don't need both, since they are both designed to do the same thing (remove minor marring and restore gloss after compounding or using a more aggressive polish). I haven't personally used the 106FF, but it is essentially the same product as the Blackfire SRC which I love. If you are purchasing through autogeek then go ahead and get the 106FF since that is the one that they sell.

As far as being good with only a finishing polish... it all depends on how bad the marring is that you are trying to correct. I would at least pick up a bottle of Menzerna IP because chances are good that you will probably have to go over the car with a more aggressive polish prior to finishing down with the 106ff.

There are many different options of which wax to use. Do a search and you will come up with countless opinions and suggestions. You just have to pick one and see if it works out for you. Paint sealants are another thing to consider also.
