What vacuum do you use?

A lot of sideline business has sprung from detailing. You've got headlight restoration, Paintless Dent Repair and now, apparently, shadetree gynocology while you're getting your vehicle detailed! :inspector:

:rofl Would we call that the "OBGYNo More Swirls" package? :inspector:

I have two of the rigid units and they do a pretty good job. On anyting with a ton of pet hair I sneak the Dyson out of the house but the wife kind of frowns on this pratice.

Just curious to know what vacuum you guys use and what you like about it.

I use the Rigid Portable 5hp with the Professional hose upgrade. It has fantastic power and a lifetime warranty. It also only costs around $90 plus $35 for the hose upgrade.

Ive had mine for 2 years now with no issues.

Hey Gary,

Do you happen to know what model number you have? I went online looking at the Rigid models available and it's like looking for the best wax.....:)

Thanks man!

Rigid 5hp with multiple attachments. Late sixties Eureka can vac; almost the same suction but barely hear it run. You hear the air not the motor.

mines, took some pics for you guys bc im bored lol.

the foam cuts the noise down alot. im happy with it. maybe i paid 75 or a few bucks more? def wasnt 100.

Andrew, I have the same Rigid w/o wheels. That's a neat idea because they are pretty loud w/ the smaller longer hose.

yea without the foam they are loud & annoying.
both hoses come out from the left side. also, on the left side ive snaked the cord. i leave the vac turned on & just plug it in when i need it & take the plug out when im done. box in your vac & foam it man!

I just picked up the Ridgid WD4070 and auto detailing hose/attachment accessory kit from Home Depot today. Can't wait to try it out on my next detail! After a quick try just on my living room carpet this thing packs a punch for such a small vacuum. I believe it will be the perfect fit for mobile detailing.

Nice thread resurrection...

Powr-Flite PF 51

How long have you had the unit?
What are you thoughts of the machine?
Do you only have the option of the reusable cloth bag?
It appears to be a very "mobile" machine ie. stable design for rolling around a vehicle.
Tech specs look very respectable.
One negative is the drain method. I have grown used to the ease of the lower drain valve feature of my Craftsman.

I have long considered this unit, and they are located just over in Ft. Worth and supporting a local company has an appeal for me. Just have never pulled the trigger. They even occasionally have a unit or two in their outlet store which makes them even more of a temptation.

I use the Metro Vac and Sears Garage mounted unit with 21' hose.

The Metro is for light duty dirt (small filter) and the Sears is for heavy duty.

I use the liner inside the Sears.

Either unit can be used to blow dry the car.

I've used a Lowes 2.5 gallon small portable vac for years.........I have the big shop vac as well, but you cant beat the small size and power.......this is actually my 2nd one......I burned the first one out.......about $30...

I've been eying a metrovac 500........
