What to write for follow up/thank you letter?

Just wondering, I recently picked up a couple of clients (I'm doing a very part time thing) and thought it would be a nice touch to send them a letter via snail mail thanking them for choosing me, hoping they were satisfied, to email or call me with any questions and to feel free to pass along my information if they had friends/relatives in need of a "custom tailored" detail. I also recently stuck a half page flyer in with the letter that included some tips for keeping the car in top form in-between details...good? bad? does it matter?

Anybody do anything along these lines?

I think it sounds like a great idea. I've written a couple follow up letters thanking the customer and included another business card, but don't do it much any more. I think the tips is a great idea, but don't give away too many secrets. I actually lost one customer because I basically spilled my brain to him and taught him how to use a PC. He was a nice guy though so I wasn't too angry.

What I have done for years is to take a picture of our customers car when we are finished. We then have them blown up to postcard size and we personally write a thank you note on each one. Every year we say something different. This year we are saying. Your vehicle is a reflection of our success. please tell your friends about us.
