what to watch out for in a plastic/vinyl protectant?

just curious, what are things we should stay away from in the ingredients of a dash/vinyl protectant? if i remember correctly, silicones are not good caus they promote cracking over time? anything else thats not good to have in the ingredients? thanks in advance!
 
That's mainly it. Silicones and solvents tend to dry out and crack vinyls, rubbers and plastics.



Water based products are the safest.
