What to use on silver car?

Hi, I'm a new member and love this site so far. It is packed with info and I'm learning new stuff about detailing. My question is what products should I use on a silver color? I've only used over-the-counter products and never given a thorough detailing to my car. The paint does have its flaws, but it will be a couple years before I repaint and touch-up the body. So for now I would still like to use quality products to keep it looking the best it can. I've never used clay and I think I need to since it feels like there is deposits on the paint. When I run my hand on it's a little gritty.



Can some of you gurus please advise or turn me in the right direction?

Hey there. Welcome to the forums.

I definatly think you should start by claying the car. Get the Mother's clay kit or, if you can find it, Clay Magic. Claying is much eaiser than people think. Simply spray the car with the clay lube and slide the block of clay across the paint untill it is smooth. It will take care of that gritty feel you mentioned.

Are you still looking for "over the counter" products or are you willing to branch out and order online? If you want to order online then I highly recommend you check out our sponsor, CMA, and get a Klasse kit. Klasse on silver looks really good. Very shiney.

CMA also sells a wax called Pinnacle Paste Glaz (or PPG for short). That wax will give your silver car a really amazing glow. I would definatly say you should get some of that. I think the clay, Klasse, and PPG will be a good start to really make that silver stand out. :xyxthumbs
 
I use Klasse All in One and Sealant Glaze on my silver car. One coat of All in One, four coats of Sealant Glaze and top it off with Pinnacle Souveran wax. Caution wear sungalsses because it will be bright! Some will say use Zaino or Pinnacle Paste Glaz, my opinion is you can't go wrong with any of them !
 
Many prefer zaino on light color cars, can't blame em. Really puts an unbeatable shine on silver. Klasse also works wonders on silver, top it with some PPG or souveran, and you will reaching for bread to soak up the canola oil that looks like is sitting on your paint :xyxthumbs .

Clay is way easy to use. The lube makes it glide across your car. Its really a piece of cake.
 
One more question, what are your opinions on orbital buffers vs. hand-waxing, polishing? Is one really better than the other? I've only done by hand, so I have no experience with a buffer.

We may not know what he looks like or what his real name is, but at least we know he is on the ball with his strategy. :xyxthumbs I agree on that 100%. I couldn't myself have better it said. (pardon the dyslexia)
