What to use on rubberized rim?

After detailing my '05 Civic I ran into a problem.

The two rubber roof strips and door window moldings (all black) need help.

There are faded splotches on both, but oddly the roof strips are in far better shape.

In the past I've used various protectants but now they aren't working.

The window strips seem to be a soft rubber over metal and are in bad shape.

Short of buying replacement pieces, can anyone suggest a good method to get these looking good?

Description: the two long rubber strips that run from front to back along the car roof;

and the long horizontal trim piece on each door at the base of each window.
 
You might want to do a search for CQuartz Dlux, it's very good at restoring faded trim pieces that normally don't respond well to dressings. The Valuguard ETR kit is also highly recommended by Ron (long time detailer, worked closely with manufacturers).
 
If I am remembering right about the materials, I would recommend Opti-Seal on the roof rails (hard, smooth plastic). The rubberized plastic below the windows isn't so easy. KAIO will sometimes work if they aren't too bad yet. I have yet to find anything that works great once they are too far gone. Plasti-Dip is a good cover up when all else fails.
