What to use on 2001 Audi A6

Hi,

I tried searching and only found that Audi uses some super hard clear coat.

I just bought a black 2001 Audi a6 with 49K on it. Some minor scratches, bumpers repainted by dealer. Normal shape for 3 year old car.

It's going to be a winter car, so i am looking for something that will hold 6 months thru salt, snow and mud. I used NXT on my SLK and really liked the results, but i feel NXT doesn't last long.

I am looking to archive same results as i got with NXT, but with longer lasting protection.

What products would you recommend ? I am going to apply all by hand and spend as much time as it takes.

Here is pic of what i got with Clay, Scratch X, 2 coats of NXT

Kirill_Chicago- Welcome to Autopia! Since you've done some searching on this ( :xyxthumbs BTW), you've proabably run across some of my Audi-centric posts.

The KSG will last as long as you're after if you layer on enough coats and wash with something that's KSG-friendly. I'd shoot for six layers, that hold up *very* well for me.

Other options include UPP- *very* slick (lessens wash-induced marring) and *IMO* better looking. Possibly layerable, but not as durable as the KSG. Collinite- *very* long lasting carnauba wax.

Some people find KSG to be user unfriendly. I'm not among them; it always works fine for me. But if it does not work well for *you*, consider one of the other products.

Klasse all the way :up Maybe I'll feel satisified enough to finally top it with Souveran but for use as a winter beater, top with Collinite

Thank you, guys!

will Klasse All-In-One be enought to fill all the scratches ? Or i'll have to do some pretreatment ?

I will be washing the car in touch less automatic washes - are thoese Klasse friendly ?

Nope AIO will not fill. He he, if you read my posts you'll see I'm a huge advocate against filling, I much rather work toward removing. However, can be challening on Audi paint.

I can't stress senough the importance of never taking the car to a car wash. You will have a huge undertaking on your hands if you want to remove rather than fill the marring it will cause. You'll probably need hours even with a rotary. Take a look at Accumulator's posts re: the deer incident.

Try QEW for a fast, safe almost waterless wash

I'm thinking the last step products that will suit your need are the Klasse twins topped with Collinite for the winter.

Audi super hard clear coat ? That hasnt been my experience with Audi, or VW.....AIO is fabulous on either make, SG would be a first choice for a sealant but as said, sometimes difficult to use. Im out west so I never really have a need for something to "get me thru the difficult winters". I usually apply either WG, BF, or Plat.....

Well I have had to resort to polish one light scratch, visible only if you knew how to look , for 45 mins straight before getting it almost all the way out, that was before I had the Cyclo, it was by PC via cutting pad for half the time, then polish pad the rest.

If you are using a rotary exclusively, sure, it isn't a gigantic endeavor.

Often times the slightest marring needs quite a bit of polishing, it will come out, but it sure seems like you went through a workout.

Taking one through a car wash is going to be a big job especially by PC or Cyclo

Oh my God, this Audi paint seems tough to me. Especially compared to my Lexus paint, which seems very forgiving compared to my Audi.

Yeah, no automatic car washes. They do more harm than good.
