What to use for engine dress up?

No it doesn't. I think this is because it is water based. It may not last as long as your OTC stuff, but the sling, goo, and messy residue isn't there, which is really nice.



And you are right, it doesn't pick up dirt as bad. When I get home tonight I'll show you what it looks like on one of my rims, and I have it at a 4:1 ratio (factory type finish with little shine).
 
i use malco perfect 10 engine dressing. for my money it's great, leaves a little glossier than satin finish, it mists on so it does'nt run and it will reach places you can't get to with your hands. just spray and walk away. never greasy, drys dry.
 
I use the P21S Auto Wash to wash the engine bay, when dry it leaves a nice semi-gloss finish to the plastics and rubber. Any plastic areas that need attention I use Poor Boy's Trim Restore or if it is really dry then I use Chemical Guys Trim Gel. I also use S100 Total Cycle Cleaner for the raw aluminum areas, it cleans up these areas very well.



Most of this engine bay was untouched with any other product other than the P21S wash and the side panels with Trim Restore and a QD for the waster spots, the finish is really nice and leaves a new look not a greasy "car lot" look.

A lot of the CD2 products have been discontinued...this is per turtle wax themselves(just got off the phone with them)
 
Ok guys back up top, the more and more I read about this CD2 engine detailer, the more I regret its demise. I'm really liking the fact that after the heat of the engine does it's work, the product forms an acrylic like sealent over everything it coated.....my question to you experts is, what else is out there that offers not only the type of finish this dressing had(or better) but most of all, the protection for everything under the hood.
 
I catch a lot of flak for it on here, but WD-40 works REALLY well.





I usually clean the engine with Simple Green diluted 1:1 or 2:1, depending on how dirty the engine is, then use the leaf blower to dry out everything. I'll do the rest of my wash, and then spray the plastic pieces and trim with WD-40. It wicks away the water from the sensors, and then protects everything underneath. Contrary to popular myth, it doesn't eat through the rubber hoses, or anything. Not once have I had a complaint about it.
 
One thing that I've really come to like based on the readings regarding CD2 is the fact that it forms and acrylic sealent over the engine bay. Even tho my car sees no weather, I still like this a lot. Now I need to find another product that would offer the same type of protection.
 
I just got off the phone with the CD2 support line (312-649-2708), and the person I spoke to confirmed that CD2 Engine Detailer has been discontinued. This is very disappointing. I guess I'll have to run down to AutoZone and see if they have any cans of the stuff left. I also asked her if CD2 provides acrylic protection. She said that it does not. The can says that it contains petroleum distillates.



The discontinuation of CD2 Engine Detailer has made me even more curious about Griot's Engine Bay Dressing. Does anyone know anything about it? Has anyone used it?
