What to use after 3M Fine Cut Compound

I'm taking out some fine scratches & swirl marks with 3M's Fine Cut Compound becasue it reads as if it actually takes out scratches and doesn't just hide them. We'll see.

Using the 3M process I should follow with 3M's Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover, then 3M's Wax. Can I then follow with Zaino Z5 3 times then Z2 the next day 3 times?

Or can I go straight from 3M Fine Cut, dawn wash and then use Zaino Z5 and Z2?

If neither of these processes make sense or will work I want your comments also.

Just the facts and don't pull any punches, I want the truth.

Let me here your expert opinions.

I've used it - if you work the abrasives all the way down you'll be left with a darn good finish. I suggest re-lubing the pad with or surface with a spritz of detail spray before it gets too dry so you CAN keep working it.

My experience is that you can produce a good enough finish this way that you can follow with wax - however the more abrasive the starting point, the harder it is to get an even finish. I achieve about the same quality surface with this stuff and with FI-II, with the FCRC result being a little less even. So I follow it with SMR, then wax.

You WILL be using an orbital or rotary, right?

clco- I never get quite the finish I want with the FCRC, no matter how long I work it. You might want to try 3M's PI-III- mild enough abrasives to leave a "final finish" and no fillers to compromise the bonding of your Z.

I"ve had good results with 3M fine cut RC it removes 90% of my swirls using PC and yellow pad followed by Meguirs 9.0

I agree with BlackRegal and Accumulator.

Follow fine cut with 3M Perfect-It III Machine Glaze ( Eliminates swirls rather than filling them . Really wonderful product) and if really seeking swirl-free, smooth and high gloss appearing finish follow this with a paint cleanser ( GEPC, SEPC, VM). All 3 of these cleansers are low in oil content and surface would only require a Z7 wash and Z6 QD'ing to allow for good bonding of your Z5. During your washing and QD'ing steps be careful not to re-introduce swirls.

Do not apply any wax if you are going to use Zaino (Z5).

Hope this helps. :wavey
