What to top NXT with?

After cleaning, claying, etc., I would aways put on several layers of one product; NXT being the one of choice. That was until I started visiting this forum :bow I like NXT because it's a good sealant, but was hoping to get your thoughts on what's best to put on top if not more NXT. Thoughts?:idea

nxt isn't a sealant....aquawax looks good on it

Not a sealant? :scared: Yes, I recognize that this is a full synthetic "wax" but I also thought it was a sealant. If not, is there a better recommendation for the base coat (before the application of aquawax or #26)? :secret

Actually, NXT is a sealant. The marketing people make it confusing for most...but in Autopia-speak a 100% synthetic 'wax' is a sealant.

NXT makes a good base-coat for topping...in fact, NXT makes a good looking top coat. Try NXTx2 and see if you like it. Looks outstanding on red. ;)

Yes, that is what I have been doing (NXTx2) and yes, I too thought it WAS a sealant. :woohoo: I'm thinking about trying #26 on top instead of extra layers of NXT. Would I have to strip the #26 down the road if I wanted to go back to NXTx2?

I was digging through my supplies and pulled out the NXT, I remember it smelling real good...I shook it up..and popped it open..man it smelled like straight chemicals..has it gone bad?

EDIT: Ok yeah just tried some on a panel it came out runny like water haha pretty sure its done..now I have a reason to buy #21

on single stage paint, nxt tech wax is one of the best out there imo and i have tried 5-6 different waxes. it hides all the swirls, its piss easy to apply and remove without worrying about it drying either. it leaves a wicked finish and shine. THE ONLY problem with it, is it comes off after 1-2 washes which is a big downfall.

i used it on my old red mkiv supra WITHOUT claybarring, polishing, sealing, glazing or anything. just a straight application of nxt tech wax and the car looked swirl free and brand new. unfortunetly it comes off easily after washing the car.

i have been using nxt wax on my new black mkiv supra and it does an excellent job on black. i have swirls and it hides them completely, but again it comes off easy.

so im going to try a new combo and apply the tech wax with a top coat of collinite wax to see if it conceals the tech wax for a longer time period and keep that wicked shine even after several washes.

HAS ANYONE TRIED USING COLLINITE AFTER NXT TECH WAX? if so did it make the finish much more durable and last longer? did it look good or spoil the nxt look?

i plan to do the meguiars 83/80 combo this time before applying nxt tech wax and collinite to eliminate most swirls with a DC so the finish is even better.

even as it stands with my swirls on my black ss paint, one simple coat of nxt wax conceals every blemish but its only temporary and i hate waxing every second week.

Newbie question here...if I use Klasse AIO and SG is there any reason to then "wax" with NXT, or should I use a pure carnauba on top of the SG, or nothing at all?

Thanks!

I wouldn't put NXT over any other sealant or carnauba because it contains some cleaners (albeit relatively mild ones) which could remove some/all of the sealant/carnauba you were appying it over.

NXT was designed this way for folks who were going to be putting on the NXT with no prior paint preparation to insure that it removed underlying products which might prevent the NXT from bonding.

IMO there's no point in going through the trouble of applying SG if you are going to put a product like NXT on top of it which will remove/some all of the SG or at least compromise the SG's protection.

I would only put pure carnaubas (no cleaning properties) or a spray WOWO wax/sealant like Duragloss AG/Werkstatt AJT/Sonus AG on top of SG.

Thank you! Pure carnauba it is.

I think you may be confusing NXT with something else...it never really had a good smell IMO. Sounds like your bottle has gone bad though.
