What to get?

Looking for a GREAT shine...I have a 98 Saleen Mustang w/ a dark satin green metalic paint. I have tried Zaino and used P21S over it. The shine was okay but I think it could be better. I had about 50 coats of Z2 and 4 coats of P21S over it.

I think I need a better base to work from. So what polish do you all recomend? I started out using Car Brite products...-Cheap budget crap! and need to get a better foundation to build up from. (I am machine polishing)

Also had a question if I should find something better than Zaino to use?? Should I use S100 instead of P21S??

I'm looking for the deepest wettest shine I can get! :hifive:

THANKS GUYS!! This is a GREAT Forum!

You are going to get so many answers here that your head will be spinning the next time you go to detail your stang.

It's a good thing you pointed out that you haven't been focusing too much on the polishes, which I believe is the main factor in getting paint to look great.

I would start off with a set of polishes like Sonus SFX series, Menzerna, or Poorboy's SSRs. Depending on the condition of your paint, you will want to work from the appropriate abrasiveness and finish off to a smooth and clear finish. Using a glaze of some sort is up to you, but I think your Zaino or P21s are both quality last step products to complete the look of your paint.

What machine do you use for polishing? Do you have pictures you can share with us?

I'm using a Dewalt Polisher.

Here are a few ...not so great pics

look into some of the proven polishes that many users here use. poorboy's, menzerna, optimum, meguiar's, etc etc all have great polish combo's that will give an awesome surface for your lsp's.

and as for those, I'm partial to glazing toped with a carnauba. I'm always able to get a deep wet look out of dark paints using these types of combo's. As you can see in my sig, I use this approach on my own dark blue car. I think something like this would work well on your car also.

VERY nice stang! I've grown accustomed to the boxier body style.. I guess from 99+, but yours just stands out. It looks like you've got the shine down, so polishing shouldn't be a problem at all (if that is even needed).

Thanks! -So what exactly is the diffrence in S100 and P21S??? Is this just the same stuff? Ones half the price and geared towards motocycles?

There is some speculation that they are essentially the same, although I've heard S100 has flex agents because of it is targeted towards cycles.

I honestly don't know how it affects the durability/look of the wax, but it probably isn't a big deal since S100 is usually half the price of P21s.

I use S100, it's great, you'll never look back. :)

It's easy to apply and remove, and looks fantastic.

I would give #21 a try.

Peace.
