What to do with personal belongings?

Hello All,

A few things have came up in my mind and was wondering what you guys do.

If a customer's trunk and interior is full of papers, used napkins, half empty bottled water, etc. What do you do?

I assume you throw out the obvious garbage. But what about receipts, paperwork, books, etc.?

Or if the customer wants you to clean and vacuum the trunk and the person has a bunch of clothes in there? Do you "tidy" up the trunk by folding the clothes? Do you place all their stuff in a plastic bag?

How about clutter that can't be thrown away? What do you do with that? Do you throw it in the glove box or center console?

I'm curious to hear what you pros have to say. :)

Thanks in advance.

Erik

Put important contents into large ziploc freezer bag or large manilla envelop with customer name and place on passenger's seat with customer's name in view.

gives me visions of cleaning out the wife's car.

I simply take a large paper bag and put everything in there and put it in front of the car. The car keys are handed back to her and the interior is spotless. ;) She then makes the decision whether to put things away or can simply put them back in the car as she wishes.

Obviously, I am throwing garbage etc. in to the trash can.

This is exactly what I do except for the writing their name on the bag or envelope.

If it looks like garabage, it gets tossed or sucked up with the shop vac.

Before the customer leaves, I give them a huge black garbage bag and have them put everything in it and take it with them.

I help them get the stuff in the bag. I only do this when people have no more room in the trunk and they want me to detail and clean the mess.

If it is not that bad, i clean it up for them. money i find goes in a plastic cup and in the cup holder with a note.

If I am detailing at their residence, I ask them where they would like me to put all their stuff. At office complexes, invariably, someone comes out with a box to put everything in.

I normally just store everything in a plastic bag.....even if it's a paper that looks like trash (basically because you never know what it is or how important it is, etc.).

Throw the trash out, keep the cool things for your wife or girlfriend and put the high dollar stuff on Ebay.

Actually I politly ask if they can remove everything from their vehicle. If that isn't going to happen, I put it all in the trunk or remove it from the car and pile it back neatly after the detail.

I use the ziplock bag(s), and a cardbox box on occasion. I'm surprised how msny folks remove 'stuff' b/4 coming in. Typically, I just deal with stuff from under the seats...

Jim-I'm suprised by the people who remove nothing from their vehicles. One time, I took enough stuff out of a Suburban, that the pile was the entire length of the Suburban, about 2 feet high and I also removed 3 plastic grocery bags of trash and old dried up food.

I am thinking of going to my guy who makes my business card and have them make me a bag. On the bag it would say something like "look what we found". This way i can seal it up when i am done and give it to the customer.
