I need some help deciding on what to charge for a full detail? I have been getting inquiries of my services and really have no idea what a full detail is worth.
wash
clay
light cutting pad work
polishing pad work
sealant
door jambs
wheels and tires
windows
engine detail
no interior work except inside doors and windows
I just did my brothers car and put about 8-9 hours into it but with that said I dont really need an hourly wage just an idea what someone would expect to pay for a real detail?
I enjoy doing it and these are mostly word of mouth through family and freinds so what is fair?

I'm a believer in establishing a set hourly rate. This is something that does not need to be disclosed to the client. I believe the top pros command $50 per hour and several get about $40. The dollar amount you think is realistic is up to you. Charge fairly but don't sell yourself short. You will be paid for your time and expertise as a technician. A worthwhile customer will understand this.

The more professional you portray yourself, the more trust you will earn and in turn, the more willing the client will be to give you the job.

You can use this handy form to start off on the right foot.

I agree with what Bill D said. If your going to do it as a buisness I would call around to some of your area detail shops and see what the going rate is.

I agree with Bill, that to get the most out of your work, establish an hourly rate, and like her said the client doesnt need to know it. Figure out then how long it will take and then add a little bit for products, and bam, you have your quote.

I agree with Bill also. Another thing you could do is call and ask what your competition charges to get an idea of what the area will pay for.
