i have no idea what is causing this weird marring. i just started noticing it and its pissing me off. the car is prepped fine, and i have tried 2-3 different compounds with 2 different types of light cut pads. using the PC on 3 to spread the compound, then buffing on 5-6. what the hell is causing it?

i know i need a polish guys lol.

here is one example of the process-

orange ccs light cut pad, with optimum compound

use until the original imperfections are gone

followed by white ccs pad with OC

followed by grey ccs pad with optimum polish

ok i got it guys.

best combo is appearing to be danase swirl abolisher I with orange pad, followed immediately by grey pad and OP. never seen that work before, but it is

I takes forever to break Optimum polishes down with a PC. If you aren't breaking them down all the way, you will always get those tight swirls left on the finish.

I'm not getting the whole polish + gray pad thing.

If we're talking about Lake COuntry pads, then the gray pad has no cut, so whatever the polish is doing, it's not even close to what it's supposed to be doing.

The compound + yellow pad may be creating as much, if not more problems than you have to begin with. Try the polish with the orange pad, then step up to a white pad, and if you're still not happy, you'll need a final polish and a white pad.

The gray pad is really for sealants, glazes, and waxes.

I agree with you but I think your a little off on some points.

1) The gray pad has cut. Actually the gray pad has slight mechanical action. On a scale of 1-10 with 1=red/blue pad and 10=white pad, the gray pad would be about a 3.

2) The gray pad is for final polishing on a rotary polisher. On a DA the white pad will some times leave micro hazing on soft paint so you might want have to use the gray pad, but 9/10 times the white pad will leave the best surface that a DA is capable of leaving.

So the orange and yellow pads don't even register on your 1-10 scale??

My comments were based on the assumption that we are talking about one of these pads

CCS 6.5 inch foam pads, Lake country ccs foam pads, porter cable pads, ccs polishing pads, ccs pads, lake country ccs pads

The description of the gray pad definitively says "IT HAS NO CUT"

No on the particular scale I used, I topped it with the white pad so that I could give a more accurate level. If we made the yellow pad a ten, then the blue/red would be a 1, the white would be a four, and the gray would be about a 1.75, if that is better?

We are talking about one of those pads you highlighted. Unfortunately you are reading product descriptions and advertisments and accepting them as truth which is no different then if I where to respond in any thread saying that Nu-Finish lasts a year.

I suggest doing more research before speaking factually or adding a question mark to your statement so you don't accidently mis lead people with your incorrect information.

When you state that the gray pad is for (waxes, sealants, glazes) I can only assume you don't have a lot of experience with a rotary?
