Hi guys..
My Nissan badge fell off the rear hatch this winter while I was washing it.
I got a new one and the weather has been ok enuf to put the new one on..

There is some old adhesive still on the hatch from the old badge..I will remove it with some Goo Gone.
Is there any thing else I should prep that area with before putting the new badge on? Should I rub the area with some paint thinner to strip all the residue that might be on there form polsihes and waxes?
I know the surface should be free from wax and such..
Would washing the area with Dawn be enuf to get the surface to be paint only?

I'm stumped on this one..

I would think the Goo Gone would remove everything, especially if it removes the old adhesive. Maybe alcohol:water 50/50 mix.

polish the area, then use mineral spirits, not paint thinner...it should bond with no problems:)

I have always used denatured alcohol to clean any residue off before applying badges or decals. It will remove all of the oils without hurting the paint.
Wipe it on and off with a soft cloth.

If there are marks left by the badge, polish em out first. I've always had good success with an alcohol wipedown. It removes the oils that might cause bonding problems.
