What should a Porter Cable sound like?

I just received my PC 7424 today. At low speeds, it makes a bit of a grinding noise, but at high speeds it goes away. Is this normal, or should this machine be completely quiet at low speed?

Jason called it, a low whirling sound with some peanuts throw in. like a blender on lowest speed with peanuts turning into peanut butter.

Don't worry, my PC sounds kinda funky at low speeds as well. I remember when I first heard it I was like "uh-oh, that ain't good".

hahah Steve, it was well as close as I can get.



I tried for 40 minutes trying to record the PC. Didn't know how to work my sound card, go figure spend $100 on a sound card and its too complicated to work, ok ok I just didn't try.
