What RPM?

Which pad and what RPM do you use on each step of detailing your paint? I just got a PC, and have never used a variable speed before.

Thanks.

The PC speeds can't be expressed in RPMs, only OPMs (oscillations per minute). The PC oscillates, or wobbles.

I do all of my polishing on speed 5 or 6. With cleaners like AIO, I use the PC on speed 3 or 4.

I very rarely apply any LSPs with the PC.

As far as pads...

The choice of pad really depends on the severity of the defects you're trying to remove. If I am tackling some bad swirls, I'll use the yellow or orange Propel pad with SSR2.5, then sometimes followed with SSR2 and a green pad.

For cleaners like AIO or GEPC, I use a blue or green Propel pad.

So with a more aggressive product you go slower?

On my new Tacoma I plan on using AIO and then a couple coats of SG, and then topping with Megs #26. What speeds would use with these products?

And what speeds do you use when removing the product with a bonnet?

The answer to your question just comes with experience, and I think everyone kind of has their own preferences.

As a bit of a guide, here is what I *generally* do.

Polishes - Speed 5

Paint Cleaners/Glazes - Speed 5 and 6

Protectants - Speed 4

Hope this helps.

Pb2theMax- I generally use speed 3-4 when removing with a bonnet.

Since none of the products you mentioned (AIO, SG, #26) need to break down, there's no real need to use a speed higher than 4 with any of them and you could even go slower if you want to. I would't go faster than that with these products lest they "flash" too fast.
