A pile of you use different products for differrent cars.... what dictates what you use? I am just getting started and have done a few cars with Meguairs, would like to get PB's line as they can be used in teh sun. Other than that i figured i would use the same line for all cars... any suggestions? or do particular situations, weather, severity of paint degradation, colour and so on make a difference... Megs seems to have something for every situation and I like thier stuff, its just hard to get "boutique" stuff fast north of the border!

I tend to use whatever will meet the requirements of the detail.

Car Colour

Paint Condition

Weather conditions

Where the car is Kept/Used for/Daily Drive/Show Car

How often it is detailed

Price customer is prepared to pay

Time I have to do the Job

Then I pick accordingly like you say, some things are sun friendly, some combos look great on certain colours, some are more durable, some are easier to get results with in less time and steps.

I like using professional products because they work faster and better. The downside is they come in larger bottles and are harder to find. For example, they make a lot of swirl removers of different brands they sell at auto supply stores, Walmart, Internet, Country Fairs, swap meets etc but they are nowhere as good as using Meguiars Professional or Detailer line or Malco products. For example, you can get Meguiars Gold Class or NXT and they are both excellent waxes, but their #20 and #21 sealants outlast the consumer versions and are easier on/off. Also, for example, the Meg's trim detailer for black/grey plastic bumpers and trim is a good product but their #38 professional tire/trim detailer much better, outlasts the consumer version by a lot. I do buy some consumer products like Eagle One A-Z is a good tire and wheel cleaner in one, car wash soap (but since I've tried Meg's detailer line car wash soap I think I'll switch).

yeah I guess it will take some time for me to figure out what works best for each individual situation. I can get Megs stuff here overnight it they are out of stock so I guess i will stick with this until I can get some money behind me to get a load of Poorboys stuff to try.
