What paint cleaner to use before FMJ?

I was thinking of trying Menzerna FMJ in the future. What product can I use as a paint cleanser that will not hurt bonding when FMJ is applied? I could go to FPII but I don't think I need something this abrasive.



Would Four Star UPC work with FMJ? What about PS21 GEPC?

What about Menzerna One Step Acrylic Jacket? It's kinda like their version of Klasse AIO. It's part FP, part FMJ. It'll clean and lightly polish the surface, and add a little protection, too. Plus, you're staying in the family so there are no bonding issues.
 
joshtpa: I just searched on P21S paint cleanser and many said that is leaves oils behind that make it hard for some sealants to bond to. Is this true?

The Menzerna On Step is an okay, but over priced product. I have used P21S as a base coat for tons of products, and never had an issue. If you really want to be safe, just use KAIO topped with FMJ. That is what CMA recommends, and when I dont use the P21S, I use this method. Leaves the car silky smooth.

Or - even better - use Werkstatt Prime topped with FMJ.
 
I agree, but then it involves ordering from two different places, where as KAIO works very well with FMJ and can be purcahsed at the same place.

Yeah - but worth the extra effort IMO.
 
In addition to KAIO, would Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish also work with FMJ?



I've never used a Blackfire product, is that like a Menzerna spin-off from CMA?

That's true, Menzerna's AIO is a little expensive... as a matter of fact, FMJ itself is expensive. If he's already got KAIO, using it is a no brainer. Similarly, I would think UPC would work, too.



GEPC may leave a little filler behind, but probably not enough to interfere. I would do a 50/50 H2O/OH wipedown prior to FMJ, just to be safe.



But if he's gonna order FMJ and needs to buy a paint cleaner/AIO product, he could use the M-AIO under other LSPs as well. If the $$$ don't matter...
 
Sort of. Blackfire products are outstanding. The Gloss Enhancing Polish is a tremendous product that works very well with FMJ.

I'm sure that would be fine, too.



From what I remember, CMA offered Blackfire before it offered Menzerna's sealants. I'm not sure of the relationship between the two products, however.
