You're right, if you want to keep it simple you can stop with just 1 coat of SG. You can go a little further and apply 2 or more coats of SG to increase the level of shine and durability. Then if you want to make your car's finish really pop, top it off with a good carnauba.Originally posted by gtchas

Sorry, I didn't get the whole gist of what was discussed with you in Chat last night, but I think the answer might depend on what kind of water spots they are. If they were hard water spots I imagine I'd try to remove them before claying because they're physical residue lying on the paint. Use vinegar for this. If they're oxidized into the paint though I'd do it after claying and kind of mesh it with the polishing step. Try DACP or the 3M Med.
