Yes it was my first car. My dad saw it on the side of the road and pulled over and purchased it for me, i think for $300.
The 318 it had was very doggish, but my dad was right, its not going to crumple and get me killed. I learned what overstearing was really quick though.
There was no head rest either, and at 6'4" i look back and thank whoever i never got rearended.
I remember as young adults it was no problem to hop up and sit on hoods and trunks of vehicles from the late 60's and 70's some 80's. The metal was pleanty thick.
I had a car at some point with the Mr. Green Jean, or whatever it was, rust protection sticker on the window that GM was doing. I used to get a laugh with my friends looking at the sticker, and then looking at my rotted out quarter panel.
We may get the same gas milage we did 20 years ago, in a lot of cases, but there is no question that the metal our cars are made from now is a lot better.
Over at BCC i had my dream car as a Nova SS. I really liked my 75 Nova, back then. Someday if i have an extra garage bay i might track down a 68 or 69, i forget what years the SS's were. Either that or a GN...decisions decisions haha.
