Im about to try out my Griot 6" on my Velvet Beige 02 Altima SE.

it has pretty deep scratches on the trunk lid from the Previous Owner and the roof has some on it as well. theres the usual swirls and marring thats to be found on a car this old that's never been buffed.

ill have pics once im done

I have seen mixed opinions on the hardness of Nissan's paint (going from different 350Z details Ive read)

I just want to know if anyone has had any experience with the altimas and possibly the maximas

Ill be using Megs UC and SwirlX for my first buffing and if i find that they aren't cutting it ill get some 105 205

Ill be "finishing" with optimum poliseal and then optiseal tomm.

I have a couple different pads that I can use

I have Cobra cross groove 6.5" 2X each orange, white, and blue

Griot 6.5" orange and red (Ive read that the griot orange and 205 is a great combo...?

Idk if i can use the CCG pads for the KBM but if anyone has any experience with em PLEASE LMK

I hope I don't regret not getting LC pads...

thanks

Bill

PS...if anyone has any advice on how i should get some good pics of the damage before and after let me know

my camera sucks...kodak 4MP but itll due for now

I also have a Velvet Beige 2002 Altima, and I would say that the paint is on the softer side. I didn't fully correct the first time I polished (time, plus its a DD). I made two passes with SFX-1 and a Sonus Yellow Pad, then Followed up with two passes of Sonus SFX-2 on a Sonus white pad.

It had moderate swirling with some deeper stuff where it looks like someone brushed snow off the car or something, and was about 80% after that. I used a PC on speed 5-6.

The last correction was done about two years ago and that was with menzerna final polish II.

The color is pretty awesome once polished, really. It has a green tint under certain lights and is metallic and bright gold in full sun.

I love this color...i get mixed feelings at car club meets

ive always seen kinda a greenish brownish tint to the paint which i thought was kinda cool

well ill go easy on the paint seeing as its softer

im thinking griot orange and UC (griot's orange is supposedly about what LC's white is)

if that doesnt work out ill use my CCG orange

thanks for the repl and if anyone else has anything to add lmk

They don't sell the Altima in Japan, but based on the JDM Nissan Silphy (derived from the original Bluebird which the Altima also was) it's pretty soft and easy to work.

Had to hit my 02 Silver Altima with a orange edge pad to get some RDS's out. Paint gauge says I'm still almost stock. No worries.

I tried out the griot 6.5" orange pads with Meg's UC then SwirlX and it worked pretty well

both products seemed to have a decent work time and not too much dusting

I did 2 passes with each product on each section (split the roof into quarters and did the part in front of my sunroof)

it got out id say 80-90% of the defects and im guessing if i were to use my CCG orange with the UC it'd take out the rest

my pictures turned out pretty terrible lol

i gotta practice getting good shots of problems

ill post up some of the pics and youse can tear em apart lol

it got kinda late so I didnt do the doors but when I get a chance to use the lift again ill try to get better before and after shots

thanks for the advice all.
