What is your favorite wax?

I gave 1000P a shot, applied by hand and yeah - I'm a tad heavy handed, anyway, I almost changed religions trying to get that stuff off my paint. Now, I've seen it on another detailer's truck and it looked great. It's just not user friendly IMHO.

Try applying it with a PC. Leave just a barely noticeable residue behind. It should be easy to remove.

Then for subsequent layers, apply by hand very gently, again leaving a very thin residue.

I often read that certain waxes make certain colored vehicles standout. Some say that waxes can make a car look "wet" while others that some waxes can make metal flakes "pop". Is there any truth to that or is it just hype?
From what little I do know is that all waxes have different levels of ease of application and removal, as well as durability.
I ask this question because I have a semi-dark vehicle with some flake and I want to buy a product that will make it stand out, so to speak. Two of the products that I am considering are Wolfgang Fuzion and Blackfire Wet-Ice Over Fire kit. From what I've read, the Blackfire product seems to have a good reputation and strong following. Opinions?

WOW! Sorry for being so long winded. I'm tired and it's almost three in the morning. I tend to ramble when I'm tired. Sorry, amigos. I'm out. Good nite all.

I put down a coat of Meguiar's M-20, then either M-21 or 26.

20 and 21 both contain cleaners. Aren't you removing one with the other?:confused: 26 is a pure wax with no cleaners, that make sense. Curious.

"a Meguiar's spokesperson told me that No. 21 has enough cleaning power to visually reduce minor swirls"

"Meguiar?s No. 20 Poly Sealant contains a gentle cleaner making it a great one-step product..."

M-20 is a very light cleaner, M-21 is the professional version of NXT 2.0. It is made to be used with a rotary. Try it and you will be amazed.

You're missing my point. If 21 has enough cleaning power to reduce swirls, wouldn't it remove the 20 you started with? Especially with a rotary? To me it makes sense to start with 21 and finish with 26.

"Because it has a mild cleaner, Meguiars does not recommend layering Tech Wax 2.0 or using it on top of another wax or sealant."

M-21 doesn't have any cleaners, it is a pure synthetic wax. Meguiars always recommends two coats of wax for maximum coverage. I always let the M-20 sit for a few hours before using M-21 so the wax is set.
The question of wax layering is what Meguiars doesn't recommend. Some people like to multiple (more than two) layers of wax, if the wax doesn't have time to bond the next layer will remove most of wax you just put on.
M-20 is a polymer sealant, M-21 is a hydrophobic polymer wax sealant. They work well together. I use the M-20 before the M-26 also. The only time I don't use M-20 is after using M-5 or 7 pure polish. At that time I use two coats of either M-20 or M-26.
I don't use a rotary M-21 is formulated so it can be used by a rotary.

Blackfire Wet Diamond. Here in FL it holds up better than most, is easy to apply, and looks great. I love how it resists water spots. My office building likes to test the sprinkler system in the middle of the day and I never see a water spot after just a wash.

Watch out for that sprinkler water, it can rust stain your whole car. I hate sprinklers. Florida well, and canal, water is the worst.

According to CMA, it does have cleaners.

You yourself said it was similar to NXT and also according to CMA, because of the cleaners they do not recommend laying NXT.

But who cares? I'm sure it's a good product. I just question using it over 20 based on the information on the CMA website.

If it works for you in your situation, then great.

I will check to see if I can clear up any confusion regarding M21 having 'cleaners'. At the end of the day, V2 is much improved (in terms of streaking, which was my complaint) and so far durabilty. Absolutely a great product, IMO.

Nxt 2.0

m26

m16

I liked the look of NXT 2.0, I just didn't like the durability.

M26 and M16 are VERY nice waxes. M26 is probably one of the nicest waxes for the money on the market.

Regarding Zaino...you'll like it. You just need to make sure and do an alcohol wipedown if your polish is something other than Zaino PC. Or, you can apply Zaino AIO with the PC, after using your polish, then apply your Z2 or Z5. With you being in Canada (isn't Botswana a Province in Canada ;-)), I bet you will really appreciate the protection it gives you during the harsh winter.

Regarding your signature "They haven't banned me... yet."

Give it time my brother, because history definitely doesn't lie, and they will eventually!!!

NOT THAT ARGUMENT AGAIN!!:p

Favorite Polish

I would say Glare polish is my favorite, tried many, keep coming back to this one. Along with Glare Wash, easy on/off with my Flex Tool XC 3401 VR and the new CCS, Gold Finishing Pads does one proud.

NXT and M21 have light cleaners. This can be confirmed by a search of the MOL archives. I have also corresponded directly with Mike Pennington about this. He has confirmed the mild cleaning power of NXT/M21, but he has also confirmed that the cleaning agents are not strong enough to remove a previously applied and cured coat of wax/sealant. I think we need to question the assertion that M21 "has enough cleaning power to visually reduce minor swirls." M21 is not a cleaner wax.

I think you can argue semantics on this one. "Visually reduce" may very well equal "fill." That is to say, if NXT 2.0 and M21 have any ability to reduce swirls, it's because they fill them rather than remove them.
