What is your favorite glaze??

I have researched this topic and read everyones opinion about glazes, but I would love to know which glaze you all like the best.

Interms of shine, filling ability and compatibility with waxes/sealants.

For shine, wetness, and compatibility with waxes and sealants (under or on top) there is nothing better than Danase Wet Glaze. However, no filling ability, but I don't use it for that, but for the other properties.

I really like that product but I was hopeing for something with a bit of fillers (I have black car) and I would like to mask some of the swirls between polishes. I just got my car detailed and I am hoping to minimize swirls and marring, but I know with a black car it is almost impossible.

To help hide swirls on my Jet Black paint and add gloss, I use Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish as a base for whatever sealant I plan to layer over it. Look at blackfireusa.com for more details. I have read that you can use sealants over it. I would probably try the Danase Wet Glaze next but I need the swirl filling abilities until something better comes along, besides a full-blown compounding/polishing session which would take me a whole weekend with a random orbital polisher.;)

Take care,

Jim

Another +1 for DWG. Experimented this weekend (sorry no pics) with half the hood with CMW and Liquid Souveran (silver metallic paint). The LS reflection looked a little sharper than CMW.

Then I applied some DWG over the entire hood. WOW. Crystal clear reflection and very wet appearance. I've read some use DWG as their favorite topper and I have to agree. Better durability than most glazes since its acrylic based. A little goes a long way too.

DWG might be my favorite product where the results equal the hype. You can use it with either nuba or an acrylic sealant.

Well it seems like it's a toss up between RMG and Danese. I looked up RMG and it states that It is used with a machine. I unfortunately do not own one so I would need to do it by hand.

Any other opinions on glaze??

Finish Kare #300 Hand Glaze or #1 New Car Glaze. Latter is a sealant glaze which will add protection too. It cures fairly long, and the low initial slickness will improve overnight along with the appearance.

But RMG is nice too. Have you tried Meguiar's #7?

I was just given Meg's 7 to try (haven't tried it yet). But I was told there are no fillers in it, so was hoping to find one with some mild fillers.

I've used Meg #7 and wasn't impressed at all. I think it works better on single stage paint (no clearcoat). It flashes way too quickly, you have to work in a small area at a time, is tough to remove and stinks to high heaven.

I haven't used the RMG but can wholeheartedly recommend DWG. IMHO it's the anti-Meg #7 --meaning its a pleasure to use. Don't believe it has any fillers though.

First of all you have to understand #7 to be able to use it properly. It is not difficult to remove but at the same time it is - if you try it to remove it as you'd do with other stuff. Because it is a non-drying oil, it will always be slightly tacky. Do not attempt to remove it with one wipe as it will be a tiresome process.

It doesn't dry, but skins as a cooling pudding, so just remove the skin of it lightly. Much of the wiped layer will remain. Go around the car once again, remove even more. At the end, you have to around the car 2-3-4 times to remove it properly. Let is sit after complete removal, and after 30-60 minutes you can top it.

It is oil, so it will fill to a certain extent and it can make the overlaying caots of waxes a bit less slick. Don't worry it provides a unique look, and slickness will return with more wax layers. Old-school product with character, just you have to learn how to use it properly. It adds wetness and richness to the paint and excellent on single stages as mentioned.

I've used the Blackfire polish as well and even though I shake my stuff monthly, forgot I had it. It's an odd duck being that it is a cleaner/polish with filling capabilities and can be applied by hand. Easy on, easy off as I remember and can be topped immediately. The reason I quit using it and the sealant is that they stain horribly.

Vanilla Moose (RMG's hand-applied cousin) is my reccomendation. DWG and the other acrylics play nice with sealants and leave a knockout gloss, but they don't hide like the old oil-based glazes.

I will go with DWG almost 100% of the time for metallics, but on flat black VM is the champ.
