What is your favorite engine degreaser?

Nick - Just to help with the 3m site on what to consider - I have used their 2 sided tape that is used for emblem mounting and it works excellent - the adhersive on the tape is not affected by spilled gas, water or weather and it comes in different widthes. From my experiences, some car manufactors use a glue/sealant type adhesive( usually black)- others use the tape - probably all from 3m?? - so it does not matter what you use. If you use the tape, when set to install the emblem, be sure you have the emblem correctly positioned and level before pressing it hard against the surface cause once it is there - it is there to stay. If you need to reinstall - you can use fishing line or sewing thread place between the paint and the tape and draw it across the surface to break the bond. Hope this helps. MTS
 
I really like Meguiars Super Degreaser, Purple Power, and Greased Lightning Orange Blast. I really didnt care much for the Gunk Engine Brite foam degreaser.

What is your favorite?
 
I tried Gunk Engine Brite Degreaser on my daughter's Ford Focus - took the paint off down to the metal. Granted the paint on the engine compartment of a Focus isn't all that thick but jeez I didn't expect it to work like a paint stripper.
 
Purple Power or Meguiars Engine Degreaser. Unless it is really bad, I never use it full strength, instead going at 50% and letting the pressure washer take care of getting it completely off the engine surfaces..

I still haven't been able to get the courage to detail my engine. I hear great things about P21S TAW though.
 
Purple Power on your everyday run of the mill dirty engine

If it has had an oil leak and the crud is an inch thick. I would use GUNK
This is usually on the bottom half of the engine. Most ppl only clean the top half
 
Easy one!! Bullfrog Degreaser. This stuff is amazing plus it is safe for the enviroment. It also has VCI technology that keeps anything from rusting. Don't really understand the tech. but I can't believe how well this stuff works.
 
I haven't exactly "detailed" an engine bay,
but when I cleaned our car's bay the other day, I used:

4:1 Megs APC+ in a 32oz spray bottle, I also mixed a 1 gallon bucket of warm water 10:1 with Megs APC+. With this, I sprayed all of the areas that needed to be cleaned, took a paintbrush and worked around all of the tight areas. I then used a, useless otherwise, MF soaked in the 1 gallon of APC mixture by wringing it out and wiping down any areas that needed further agitation.

I would use a degreaser in the event that I touch the actual engine or components with oil on them.
 
Meguiar's Super Degreaser...

It is under 20 dollars for a GALLON and it is dillutable up to 10:1 which means 11 gallons of degreaser for under 20 dollars, not to mention it is the best pad cleaner I have ever used.

I usually dilluate 1/2 at 4:1 for heavy stuff and the other 1/2 at 10:1 for routine cleaning so I get a total of 8 gallons, still a great deal!

I didn't know you can use it as a pad cleaner...what ratio do you dillute it to use it as a pad cleaner?
 
Meguiar's Super Degreaser for me too.

Todd - I've never used it as a pad cleaner before, but I'd like to try it out. What dilution do you use for pad cleaning?
