What is this??

my guess is probably the last you want to rely on btw =] but i've seen similar when say clear coat failed and the sun faded out hte paint/or the metallic specs oxidized leaving a reddish brown hue...but I'm kind of curious to see what this is (we all love a good mystery) hope it's nothing serious

I doubt it? the burn theory was just the first thing that came out of my idiotic mouth lol sorry--again I should've left my lurker mode on in this case--I would probably wait to see what the smarter guys think

Sorry, without actually seeing the concern, and even then, I have my doubts that I can tell you.

If there were more of the "spots" in the area or other parts, I could go through some diagnoist's and maybe, just maybe, come up with some sort of answer.

Just can't do it.

Grumpy

I'm just curious what the other two objects are near the reflected light. Is this a constellation of some sort? ...sorry.

Were is my grandaughter when I need help with computers :)

This link didn't work for mw, bu I'll try it again...

Having got the link to work; my guess is a spot burn on the plastic ( the heat transfer is very limited compared to metal)

Try a chemical paint cleaner to remove the oxidation (brown) stain and then a mild finishing polish

I noticed the spot after I did a decon wash next to the Honda logo on the trunk lid. Did a little light polishing, but from what I could tell, it looked as if it was under the clear. I must say, I was a little worried because I thought it was something I did. The customer picked the car up yesterday evening and said " Oh yeah, that was there when I got it." At that point, we decided to let it be due to the low paint readings already. Another dealership mystery.

Thank you all for your help.
