What is the forum's favorite swirl remover/polish?

relabelled?...to what? or are you trying out their more aggressive professional strength compound?

back on topic, for light to moderate swirls, i like OCP & FPII. it took me a couple of tries to get to know OCP, but it really does a great job. i just got my order of opt's "regular" compound and will be trying it out on my friend's mazda6(heavy swirling) w/ my cyclo.

Z-PC for me. Leaves no film behind.

The DP polishes are pretty nice, as is the SFX3 that i have, i am assuming the rest of SFX's have similar properties.

It is interesting what happens in a year though.

A year ago SSR 2.5 was all anyone talked about. Now with improved technology being used for products, they dust less, and 2.5 is getting lower and lower on peoples ladders.

I think Optimum Polish is the "flavor of the week" or should I say month

Some people here may feel this way. I on the other hand as a Professional have been searching for this product for over ten years. I feel that Optimum is now the benchmark for future products to come. Just look at all of the spray Waxes that are coming out. I received another new one in the mail yesterday.

When the big boys sit up and look over their shoulders you know you’re on to something good.

If a lot of you PC users would pick up a rotary and use the Optimum you would see how user friendly it really is. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the whole polishing step.

Even the compound is very user friendly.

The new Professional Compound will require some Buffing skills when it comes out and will be more suited for the Body Shops. It to will be low to no dusting.

Will you see more from Optimum? Yes.

Are they the "Flavor of the Week"? Not in my eyes.

The ones who truly want excellent Results on a consistent basis from one automaker to another will see this. :xyxthumbs

JMO.

Well put, Ron!

What really impresses me with Optimum is how well they also work with the PC. It seems the abrasives aren't totally dependent on rotary generated heat to break down. I've talked to David a few times and he is genuinely interested in knowing his products work well with the PC and not just the rotary.

3M Perfect-it III Machine Glaze for me. I must be old school but it gives me the results that I need. It leaves no fillers, silicon or waxes behind.

I only started polishing and doing "real" detailing the April of this year and I can already speak of the wonders of Optimum. I have The whole Poorboy's line, the whole Menzerna line, and now Optimum Compound is on it's way as well. So far, I've used little of my Poorboys, quite a bit of Power Gloss and FP2, but ALOT of Optimum. On a few of my first few learner cars, the dusting I got with Poorboys KILLED me; Menzerna stuff is only alittle better. Optimum, though, let me polish forever. When I started learning using the rotary, I went to Optimum and to date have not burned paint. Optimum rules, and I'm sure the Compound will replace my Power Gloss and SSR3.

It's hype only if the product doesn't deliver. Optimum does and then some.

Good point. I guess hype is the wrong word. You don't have to convince me it works, when I did my sisters car this weekend the only polishes I took were opt compound and polish. They're on the top of my list for sure.

Sorry for being a little too sarcastic by the "flavor of the week" comment, its just hard to resist with all these new products constantly coming out. I do agree with you Ron and others, Optimum polish is a very nice polish and I recommend it on other forums for various reasons: price, workability, versatility, and a nice shine that doesn't need to be followed up with a finer polish. Also the very low dusting is a huge plus, especially for darker cars :xyxthumbs

John

My reply was not an attack towards you. Sorry.

I don't want to be a trendsetter and I don't want to be a member of the flavor of the week group. Here. It just rubes me the wrong way that people might consider it as the flavor of the week and not give it a chance. Every thing else I have ever used is in the trash or sitting behind Gal. containers of OPT products. I truly trust and believe in David and his products. One year ago I could not say this about any product line.

This picture is before Optimum Compound with a Meguiar's red pad on my new Hitachi rotary:D

This is after. There is no final polishing or wax/sealant. It took two passes and I could easily tell what condition the finish was in after wiping the surface.

Spoliedman Wow, excellant results my friend :bigups

For those asking about the "smell" of OCP, it has a slight fragrance to it but it is not overpowering. I think its some sort of bannana smell, but you won't find many fragrances added to the Optimum line because David feels that if an ingredient is not vital to the products make-up then it is not needed. Turns out though that the fragrance added to the OCP actually helped the final formula... go figure

Hah - I was mostly just kidding about the smell. I think the oils in it give it a sort of chemical smell, but I really don't mind. My post was tongue in cheek given all the products that smell like bananas, bubble gum, coconut, hello kitty, etc. :)

where to get gallons of polish or compound?......dont think they even make that.

The polish and compound dose not come in the gal. size. The wash soap, spray wax, tire gel, apc,and the interior protectant all come in gal. sizes
