what is important?

Hey Guys,
I saw this wax and I just wondered if anyone has tried it yet. I don't know of anyone using this stuff, but it seems pretty good for the price! ($19.95 for 8 oz.)

Here's what I got off the website www.autosportcatalog.com :

Protect Your Car's Paint with the Finest Carnauba Wax Available

After years of extensive testing, AutoSport Yellow Carnauba Wax more than meets the challenge

Our car care development team's wax goal was aggressive: come up with a wax as effective and long-lasting as the most expensive specialty waxes--without the shocking price tag. We start with the highest-grade, raw yellow Carnauba wax money can buy. This Carnauba is made from the leaves of a rare palm tree that grows only in parts of northern Brazil. The extreme hardness of this natural wax gives your paint an ultra-long-lasting, protective shine. We've found a way to blend ultra-high portions of it, along with other proprietary ingredients, into a paste wax that goes on "like butter." You just wipe it off wet for a deep, car-show gloss. Don't be afraid to wax over body trim, either. Because it contains no bulk clay fillers, AutoSport Yellow Carnauba Wax doesn't leave chalky white dust, or discolor rubber and vinyl. Contains no cleaners or abrasives. Comes in an 8 oz. tub, with Applicator Pad, gift-boxed. An AutoSport exclusive.

Hype, all hype. I really like the part about the rare palm trees. Yeah, right! They grow like weeds in South America.

Every wax maker has the same story. Fact of the matter is, the wax itself offers almost no protection. It's all a sham. The wax is an emulsion for all of the other stuff.

I'm not knocking the product, as I have not tried it. I just don't buy into the marketing. I guess I'm still jaded by the fact that Zymol sells a wax for $65, then puts a different label on it, a new marketing spin, and jacks the price up another $20. Are people really so gullable as to think a wax is specifically designed for an NSX, Vette or Z3? Darn, there I go getting off-topic again.

Yesterday I setout on a road trip to Ada, OK. My plan: visit mom, clean her car....you know, vacation type stuff. Well I jokingly said before I left, "I want a tornado before I leave". Big mistake! I left PHX at 3am local time and made great time, no thanks to the Texas Hwy Patrol. 20 miles from Ada near Asher, OK I hit severe rain and "ouch" hail. So I struggle to find a tree big enough to hide under screaming that my car is getting pummled. I'll skip to the end....only two dings and I have a great PDR guy in phx. Any way the clouds parted and I drove towards Ada again, big mistake. More hail. So I drove back north and noticed some people on the side of raod. I pull over and look back at a huge storm cell. I can hear the radios in their cars saying "tonados in Ada". At this point my phone is near dead with only one bar. No answer at moms so I call my twin. She says stay north until we call and she is in a storm cellar with mom. So I head back to asher hide in coverd parking and wait out the storm. I charged my phone at a gas station and when the locals decide to keep driving I know it is safe. So when all is said and done, my car really wasn't that important. My family is safe. I am lucky because people had greater loss than I did and I wasn't in harms way. I got my tornado and wish I didn't.

Sent on my phone sorry for any typos.

I'm glad you and your family are all safe. Those storms are really nasty, and you don't want to get caught in them.

Thanks guys! From what I know damage was limited here in Ada. Teaxs took the worst end of it. We had warnings today with more hail but nothing materialized. I'm gonna find my zen tomorrow and clean a car.
