What is black, puts 600+ horses to the ground, and is swirl -free? *56K* No

GOT PREP?
This is a heavily modified Cobra. I wish that I knew more about the mods as I am sure they are extensiveI had to focus on the paint. :D

The car was very clean, but needed a bit of reconditioning. The paint had moderate to severe swirls, heavy contamination (sap, tar, industrial fallout, etc). The interior was just dusty (indicative of a lot of time driving with the windows down), but clean overall.

The car was an absolute pleasure to detail, it took me about 10 hours to complete.

The process was:

Wash

Clay with Meguiars “regular clay bar (white)

Buff with Hi-Temp extreme cut @1500 RPM’s via rotary polisher with a Meguiars polishing pad

Buff with Optimum polish via rotary @1200 RPM’s

Polish with Menzerna final polish II via PC @ speed 5 with a S.M. Arnold blue soft polish pad

Apply two thin coats of Meguiars #21 polymer sealant

Tires are dressed with poorboy’s bold n brite water based dressing

For the interior the process was:

Vac

Steam cracks and crevice

Costco APC 10:1 on all vinyl surfaces

Costco APC on all carpet

Lexol on leather

The engine was degreased, then dressed with eagle one water based dressing cut 50/50.

Here are the pics….

Before---- not too bad in the sun right?

Are you sorta getting off the #84 (IIRC) and leaning towards HT Extreme Cut these days? IIRC Fords have sorta-soft clear....

And *of course* your work was great on this one too ;)

Nice car, and even better work!! Looks like the owner of that car could use a set of Nitto drags for the back

He keeps this set on for daily driving needs to "keep him out of trouble." ;) He has another set with more "serious" tread mounted. :D

LucentTeg, yes he does have suspension mods, but I am not exactly what they are. I *believe* that he has fully adjustable coilovers, but I am 100% sure.

Accumulator, this paint was definitely on the soft side. After polishing with the HT EC, then OP, I tried #80 via PC and it dulled/micromarred the finish, so did SSR1, but the FP II did the trick. :D When I am working with soft paint I definitely go with HT-EC with a polishing pad, it is an amazing product IMO. I have been using it for about 1 year to 18 months, but just started using it with foam polishing pads. It finishes out so well that if I were better with the rotary I think one could go from EC to something like FP II via PC and leave a perfect finish. I think this would be possible even when dealing with marring as severe as what is above, it has a permanent spot in my arsenal. :D

BTW, is there anything that anyone knows of that finishes down like FP-II, but without the dust? Or is it unique in its' abilities?

Wow thats some sh!t. I wonder whats the speed trap on a 1/4 mile?

Great great like always :2thumbs:

Is that a C16 tank in the engine bay??

Very nice. Looks great

No, that wouldn't be too smart if it is. It looks like an aftercooler for the supercharger. Those KB's certainly need it!

Nice detail by the way. That's how this car should always look! :2thumbs:

Forget the detail, look at that engine! :p

Sick work Joe :goodjob

Does the 3M PIII MG dust like that? Does it finish the same as FPII? Could you have used the 3M instead given Ford's soft paint? It's been golden for you in the past considering the Cayenne experience. Too bad about the "tried & true" #80. It finally let you down.

What wheel cleaner? Your 50/50 mix? NXT Metal Polysh after? I used your tip today and tried the NXT Metal on clear coated Mercedes wheels and restored them to a nice luster. Thanks! It's a great product.

Again, awesome job...again.

Very nice work. Why didn't you hit that aluminum box under the hood with some polish? That would really set the engine bay off nicely.

it's a coolant resivorer for the supercharger's intercooler. That design keeps the coolant alot cooler than Ford's plastic design one :)
