What have I done to my microfiber?

I have been noticing that my MF towels don't seem to glide over the paint like they used to... This morning I tried to wet a MF towel to do a quick detail and the water just kept running right off of the towel! It was like the towel was waterproofed. I have been washing them with cheer and not using any fabric softners. should I wash them with dawn instead?

Hello mazman,

Have you been using hot water? How about letting them soak in hot water (not boiling) for a 1/2 hr to 1hr. Always use liquid form of detergent. It is not recommended to use Dawn as a source of detergent. It will cause premature wear on the micro fibers making them ineffective.

Try and using hot water (</= 90 degrees). Let it soak for some time and wash thoroughly.

Hopefully that helps.

Need a new washing machine? You will if you use Dawn in it.

I did that in my new apartment. I ran out of dish soap of the dish washer and put in some Dawn. It all cleans dishes right.

I cam back home after an hour expecting nice clean dishes and I washing into a kitchen full of suds. Took about 2 hours to clean up, but atleast my floor was super clean:p

Sometimes if I have a grease stain or something like that I will coat it with dawn before I put it in the wash, it usually does the trick. I know if I put alot of dawn in the washer it will sud over, I'm just talking about a small ammount, like a spoonfull

As a spot cleaner no problem but I would just use liquid clothes detergent for this function at full strengh on the spot. If too many suds are produced the suction motor will burn out because the suds removal literally over-works ( dry suction with decreases cooling) this motor. This many not occur the first time but over time will lead to failure. Ever noticed that washing detergents are very low suds producers.... this is why.:wavey

I can home from work once to see that my roomate back then did the same thing. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. He's standing in 2 feet of soap bubbles telling me to quit laughing and help him clean up. :D
