What happened to Zaino?

Back in Nov. of 06 when I first became an Autopia member the Zaino name was all over the place. So much love and respect. It was the most talked about product on here. Everybody seemed to absolutely love it. Now, even with continuous improvement, there is so much hate and disrespect. :aww: What happened?

Huh? I think every product gets their fair share of love, hate, and disrespect here at Autopia. But I'm pretty sure this thread is going to self-immolate pretty quickly ;)

A lot of folks love it, and some folks, mostly who haven't tried it, hate it. There is quite a bit of loyalty to zaino from its users and that's probably why it bothers some so much to hate the product.

The thing about Zaino is that (as a former hater) the haters are more passionate against it than actual users are passionate about hyping it. It's so good that most users don't start sensational hype generating posts. Everyone already knows it's a quality product. The flavor of the month products have to have the most hype.

^^^^

I agree to that for the most part. Everyone wants to discuss the flavors of the month. At the same time, the users ARE pretty passionate. Someone can ask to choose between

P21S and Souveran, and a Zaino person will say "forget about those, go with Zaino". So it goes both ways. But it is a passionate subject. I think the other thing that goes unnoticed, is that there seems to be 2 catagories. Those that use Zaino and wont try anything else, and those that try everything. Not that one is right or wrong. I use 2 Zaino products and like them. Z8 and Z5. It reminds me a lot of the Mac vs PC debate.

Plenty of speculation there, I would recommend p21s over souveran due to the application process. Not to mention, i use EVERYTHING including Zaino. I wouldn't trade most of my glazes or nuba's for anything, which is why i buy them.

I have observed that many of the Zaino-only users tend to get more defensive and paranoid about what they perceive as a "personal attack" when someone criticizes or has bad experiences with the Zaino products. These folks get termed as Zaino Zombies and people take pot shots at them and the cycle continues...Still, even with these recurring tiffs, out of all the products discussed on this board it's pretty clear that almost everyone thinks Zaino is great stuff.

I also think people are generally trying to help out others when they stumble onto something new and exciting and post about it. It really isn't news to anyone when you post that Z5 kicks butt.

We Zaino-aholics are here. We tend to show up when someone (usually a newbie) asks for help in product selection. But there is an ebb and flow to this board and felthove did express the situation very well.

I have tried many, many products. I always seem to come back to Zaino. Especially as Sal continues to improve his products, and expand his product line.

With that siad, Zaino products are my "exotic" products of choice. Mothers new products are my "common sense" products of choice. :D

troll.....

I have liked every Zaino product I have tried except for CS-which I don't hate but I don't think it met the early hype. What I don't like is that a few people here overly push Zaino to the point it seems to be shilling to me. Some of them come off like Amway salesmen or like they are in a cult. That doesn't stop me from using Zaino though. ;)

I just think that over the past year, some of us have just gotten tired of the way some people overhype Zaino and it bleeds over into a lot of threads. Plus, I think that over the last months, DavidB and the mods tend to let disagreements continue as long as there aren't any personal attacks. Threads don't get locked nearly as quickly as they used to.

Allot of folks like and use zaino. I think some don't even want to post that they use zaino due to all the backlash that zaino gets on this forum.

I just did a search on zaino in the product forum. I looked thru approx 150 posts back to early sept and of the ones that did not have zaino in the title. I really do not see any bleed over into other threads unless someone was asking for a comparison between another product and zaino. JMO and what I see.....Maybe I got some Z8 in my eyes the other day when I used it and can't see straight. ;) :grinno:

I am confused about your p21 over souveran statement. What is different about the application? Don't you like a wowo wax? I am not a big carnuaba fan but out of the ones I have tried I think PS is the best, atleast when it comes to appearance. What are your favorite glazes and carnuabas which you wouldn't trade and why?

I have to say I am in the category of trying everything and always ending back with Zaino.

z06, I prefer the ease of application of p21s as opposed to souveran. I also found it to be a little more durable.

I have not used a lot of different waxes but I found PS to go on and come off incredibly easy. Now Concours is a pain in the butt to apply and remove. I cannot imaging P21 being any easier than PS, it must apply itself. I cannot argue on PS's durability, it has NONE. :nixweiss

Not that it is wrong as I think everybody is entitled to their opinions and have their own individual taste but do you think carnuaba's deliver a shine or depth or wetness that cannot be obtained with a synthetic? Obviously there is no right or wrong answer since it is a matter of personal preference.

Z06, both waxes you mentioned go on and come off incredibly easy, barring user error. For some reason p21 is the easier of the two imo. As far as synthetics not being able to produce the same look as a glaze and nuba, maybe after multiple applications sure, for the work involved the glaze nuba look is the fastest road to absolute wetness on certain paints in me experience.

I like Zaino but I like a lot of other stuff too, some of it better....

Some people seem to only push zaino and make fanatical claims about it without having ever tried anything else. Then you have the complete opposite. It makes for redundant entertainment.
