What happened to KAIO

That's a bit different than I would have done. I was going to go based of AG's site on their product page. Thanks for the tips, as I'll try it your way instead.

Well, far be it from me to dissuade somebody from following the Geek's advice, but that's how it works best for me. Trying to remember when I first started using it...sometime in the early-mid '90s.

He, it occurs to me that I haven't tried the Post-VOC version (as I have a lot of the old stuff), maybe that makes a big diff. Better find out lest I steer you wrong!

Huh, never would've occurred to me to top UPP with S100/P21s (a wax I didn't like one bit, maybe that's why!).

I used the Klasse twins MANY years ago. Then I stopped fussing over my cars due to some painful back issues that kept me from doing the job properly. Got better last year, came back to this forum, and was overwhelmed with all the new products out there. I was determined to find an alternative to the SG. Its just so hard to justify putting 2 to 5 coats on to get the protection and look. Yes, Accumulator, you should get royalties from FK, I used the FK1000p on your recommendation, topping it over the KAIO on my new silver Mazda6. Looks great, lasts months.

KAIO I think works great, Ive used it exclusively to spruce up old cars that have not been cared for, does a nice job, easy to work with.
 
valleyguy1- Glad the FK is working well for you, and I bet it looks great on that Mazda silver. I used KSG on my silver MPV and I was never quite satisfied with how it looked, though it did provide minivan-appropriate protection.
 
Accumulator Sounds like u and the Geeks both use the damp pad. I must have forgotten that part when I read it the first few times. I did spray my pad with water prior to applying the KAIO. That thing is runny!

Valleyguy LOL, I was reading your post and was getting ready to mention that you should try the FK instead of the 5 layers of KSG, but saw you too have been influenced by Accumulator. Thats what I ended up doing yesterday. I too suffer from occasional back pain, so whatever makes the job easier, Im all for it!

So tried KAIO for the first time last night. I wasnt sure what to expect. I used a white foam polishing pad. The KAIO appeared to clean up the panels a bit and left a slightly glossier look to them. It wasnt terribly hard to work with (easy on), but wipe off at times wasnt exactly the easiest. Ill keep playing with this product and use it as needed.
 
Looks like we need a "Detailers with back pain" thread. After one surgery and looking forward to another one, back pain management is what I go to bed thinking about and what I wake up thinking about. I would not wish back pain on my worst enemy. Maybe an ex-wife or two...

Ill try that next time :) Thanks for the tips. One thing I remembered, was to wipe off the excess on spots where it touched trim. I was on that fast to avoid issues.
 
Quick question, can I use the klass sealant glaze on headlights and chrome trim as well? I swear I read somewhere it was only for paint. Seems like it would protect anything. Also I like to put a cap full of the AIO in my wash water, sure helps with spots if not dried as fast as you would like or the suns out. Thanks guys, and Im referring to the glaze in the gray bottle, is it for paint only?

No, not only for paint.

KSG is *great* on all sorts of surfaces including lenses, chrome (and other brightwork), and many (pretty much *all* IME, but I guess YMMV) plastic and even *rubber* trim materials. Just use the Wipe-On-Wipe-Off method on textured trim rather than letting it dry/flash off lest you have (potential) issues with residue getting stuck in the texture. So your instinct was correct :D

Id be careful about doing that as it could very well mess with any existing LSP. Just as it cleans those spots away, it can clean away existing wax/sealant.
